National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets Vietnamese community in Senegal

As part of his official visit to the Republic of Senegal, on the afternoon of July 22 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Senegal, which numbers over 3,000 people of Vietnamese origin. The Chairman expressed his hope that the Senegalese authorities would continue to support the Vietnamese community in integrating into local society, contributing to Senegal’s prosperity, and further strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

A hydropower plant in central Vietnam sees once-in-5,000-year inflow peak

The Ban Ve Hydropower Plant in the central province of Nghe An is discharging over 1,700 cubic meters of water per second after prolonged heavy rains pushed reservoir inflow to a historic level said to occur once every 5,000 years. The region's largest hydropower facility is taking emergency measures to prevent downstream flooding, as multiple mountainous communes have already been submerged.

Shift to EVs: Infrastructure must lead

The move from gasoline to electric vehicles is inevitable, with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City taking the lead. In Ho Chi Minh City, the transition starts with public transport and 400,000 delivery drivers. Domestic gold prices hit three-month high

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), Vietnam’s leading business entity in the gold trading market, today listed gold bar prices at VND120.7 million to VND122.7 million (US$4,740 to $4,820) per tael, up VND700,000 ($27) from the previous day. This marks the fifth consecutive day of gains and the highest price level since late April. Bao Tin Minh Chau and several state-owned banks posted similar selling prices. The gap between buying and selling prices remains at VND2 million ($78) per tael.
