Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians logo unveiled

The National Assembly, organizer of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, announced the logo and website for the event on August 3. The logo highlights the letter Y, representing youth, and the yellow star on the red background, standing for the Vietnamese national flag. The event's website, nghisitre.quochoi.vn, features five microsites and eight sections, and is available in Vietnamese and English.

Hanoi will host the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians for the first time on September 14-18. The event will discuss the role of young people in promoting sustainable growth through digital transformation and innovation.

Vietnam News Agency, Kyodo News hold photo exhibition to highlight bilateral relations

The Vietnam News Agency and Kyodo News have opened a photo exhibition entitled "Vietnam-Japan: Towards the Future, Reaching out to the World". The event, part of a series of activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations, showcases the achievements of the two nations.

Through the exhibition, the Vietnam News Agency and Kyodo News expect to develop their partnership and contribute to the mutual growth of the two nations.

Three handicraft and industrial clusters inaugurated in Thanh Oai District

Hanoi inaugurated the construction of three production and industrial zones in Thanh Oai District this week: Thanh Thuy Craft Village Cluster Phase 2, Phuong Trung Craft Village Cluster, and Hong Duong Industrial Park. Covering a total area of 28.65 hectares, the three projects will cost a total of VND500 billion (US$21 million) and employ about 3,000 people.

The projects will help Thanh Oai attract high-tech enterprises to the district, relocate craft villages and households away from residential areas, and promote socio-economic growth in the district.

Vietnamese buy less gold in Q2: World Gold Council

According to the World Gold Council, Vietnamese bought fewer gold items in the second quarter of 2023 due to low liquidity and concerns over the downtrend in the property and stock markets. Shaokai Fan, head of Central Banks at the World Gold Council, said the downturn is also happening to other countries in ASEAN.

In the second half of the year, the Council's experts predict that the global gold market may turn more dynamic as it becomes a safe haven for people amid the economic crisis.

LinkSME Project closing ceremony held in Hanoi

The USAID Linkages for Small and Medium Enterprises (LinkSME) project has supported more than 70 studies with recommendations and guidelines to improve the implementation of Resolution 68 on cutting and streamlining business-related regulations in the period 2020-2025, resulting in trimming off and simplification of 2,352 business-related regulations in 191 legal documents. The achievements were announced at the project closing event on August 4 in Hanoi.

The project conducted pre-assessments and screenings for 180 SMEs, comprehensive audits for 11 SMEs, and provided intensive technical assistance to 41 enterprises joining global supply chains. Of the 318 orders from lead companies resulting from the project's assistance, 280 orders have been successfully delivered and paid for, totaling US$8.6 million.

130 Vietnamese employers join Hanoi's online job fair, seeking nearly 28,000 workers

Hanoi-based companies were among 130 Vietnamese businesses participating in an online job fair linking nine provinces and cities on August 3. The fair aimed to fill 27,695 job vacancies. Hanoi registered 34 companies seeking 1,088 workers, while Bac Giang province had the highest demand with 17,244 workers, followed by Ninh Binh (3,701), Phu Tho (1,850), Haiphong (1,584), and Bac Ninh (1,557).

The event provided a platform to match employers and job seekers and address the country's ongoing employment challenges.
