Anti-war evidence on display at Thua Thien Hue History Museum

About 180 artifacts, evidence and photos showing anti-war activities during the war against Americans in Vietnam are now on display at the Temple of Literature in Hue City. The exhibition, which will close on September 30, is divided into five thematic areas that showcase anti-war activities and the efforts of US veterans to heal the wounds of Vietnam.

The exhibition also features talks between the veterans and people, contributing to the growth of Vietnam-US relations.

BlackPink shares clip on Hanoi live show

South Korean girl band BlackPink recently uploaded a video highlighting their Born Pink tour in Hanoi. The clip begins with the image of Tran Quoc Pagoda on West Lake and then highlights notable moments of the band during their two-day live show. The short video has received around 258,000 likes and thousands of comments and shares on Facebook.

BlackPink’s Liveshow in Hanoi on July 29 and 30 attracted around 67,000 people. On August 5, Hanoi authorities estimated that the city earned more than VND600 billion (US$25.3 million) from tourism and services over the two days.

Vietnam to train some 50,000 chip engineers

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered the development of a human resources plan to train 30,000-50,000 engineers and 100 experts in digital transformation and semiconductor chip production. At the government meeting on August 5, the PM required four ministries - Planning and Investment, Information and Communication, Education and Training, and Science and Technology - to coordinate the plan.

Vietnam aims to further participate in the semiconductor supply chain, which is expected to generate US$1 trillion in global sales by 2030. According to Statista, the country's semiconductor industry is expected to reach over $20 billion, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.6% in 2023-2027.

Vietnam's e-commerce revenue to reach US$20.5 billion in 2023

Vietnam's e-commerce revenue is expected to reach US$20.5 billion in 2023, up 25% year-on-year, according to the report on Vietnam's e-commerce in 2023 released by the Vietnam Agency for E-Commerce and Digital Economy.

B2C e-commerce revenue is expected to account for 8% of total retail sales of goods and consumer services. Last year, B2C sales reached $16.4 billion, accounting for 7.5% of the total.

Career Guidance and Employment Digital Transformation Day Offers 5,000 Vacancies

Kicked off on August 5, the Career Guidance and Employment Digital Transformation Day offered around 5,000 vacancies for young job seekers, provided career guidance and shared corporate culture. At the event, students also had the opportunity to experience interviews, apply for jobs online, demonstrate their skills, and make plans for their careers.

Lao authorities close roads to traffic due to land erosion

Local authorities in the mountainous province of Bolikhamsai have closed the road linking Laos' Namphao border checkpoint to the Cau Treo international border checkpoint in Vietnam's Ha Tinh Province due to heavy rains and land erosion. Landslides have blocked two sections of the 18-kilometer road, one of which is 60 kilometers from the Cau Treo border gate.

Terrain erosion has also trapped and half-buried many vehicles in dirt and mud. No injuries have been reported. The traffic ban will remain in place for the next few days.

Winning students honored at National Young Informatics Contest 2023

Winners of six first prizes, 16 second prizes, 27 third prizes and 76 consolation prizes were honored at the Closing Ceremony and Award Ceremony of the National Young Informatics Contest 2023 held in Quang Ninh Province on August 4. The winners are among nearly 170 outstanding contestants selected from 31 provinces and cities nationwide.

Organized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City since 1995, the IT competition aims to encourage students to learn, innovate and develop IT skills to solve real-life problems.
