Vietnam calls for end to US embargo on Cuba
At the UN General Assembly, Vietnamese Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang called on the United States to lift its embargo against Cuba and remove the country from its list of state sponsors of terrorism. HSBC forecasts 7% growth for Vietnam in 2024
Global bank HSBC projects that Vietnam's economy will grow by 7% in 2024, leading ASEAN with GDP gains similar to those of the Netherlands. Key drivers include digital transformation, renewable energy and foreign investment. HSBC estimates that Vietnam will need around US$400 billion for green and digital initiatives, laying the foundation for long-term growth.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomes 4.6 million international visitors from January to October
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over 4.6 million international visitors between January and October, up 12.9% year-on-year. The city's Department of Tourism has introduced policies to attract MICE tourists and foster tourism partnerships with 13 Mekong Delta provinces. The city is also organizing the 4th Tourism Week, the 2024 International Marathon, and promotional events in Singapore and Malaysia.

Promotion of Vietnam Innovation Network activities in Australia
The promotion of the Vietnam Innovation Network in Australia was highlighted at a meeting between Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam and Network Chairman Tran Phi Vu on October 31. Established in 2019, the network promotes cooperation between Vietnam and Australia, facilitating scientific and technological cooperation, knowledge sharing, and the implementation of sustainable development projects.
Sri Lanka boosts tourism appeal for Vietnamese visitors
Poshitha Perera, Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Vietnam, briefed Vietnamese tourists on Sri Lanka's rich history, national parks and diverse cuisine on October 30. Despite widespread praise, there are still few direct flights for Vietnamese tourists to Sri Lanka, but the country has set out to become a popular destination for visitors from the Southeast Asian nation.
Vietnam's Fashion Week highlights global design and sustainability
Vietnam International Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2024, themed #FashionEvolution, will showcase 16 renowned local and international designers from November 13-16 in Hanoi. Celebrating a decade of fashion innovation, the event emphasizes sustainable development and includes collections from top designers such as Do Manh Cuong and Duc Hung, as well as brands such as Chula Fashion from Spain.
