5th International Geotechnical Conference to start in mid-December

The 5th International Conference on Geotechnics for Sustainable Infrastructure Development (Geotech Hanoi 2023) will gather more than 800 scientists and specialists from 41 countries and territories to discuss new solutions in tunnel construction and landslide prevention. The event will be held on December 14-15 at the National Convention Center.

The conference will help Vietnam narrow the technical gap with developed countries in geotechnics, and bring together scientists and experts to find solutions for Vietnam.

Vietnam real estate to attract foreign capital in 2024-2026: report

Foreign investors are expected to jump into Vietnam's real estate market in 2024-2026, according to Cushman & Wakefield Vietnam's latest report on merger and acquisition (M&A) activities in Vietnam. The report shows that about 90% of all transactions in 2023 will be made by international investors, as domestic investors are stuck in administrative barriers, corporate bond issues, and lack of access to financing.

Trang Bui, general director of the company, said most foreign investors are quite optimistic about the Vietnamese real estate market due to its prospective profitability.

Vietnamese pharmaceutical companies seek Canadian investment

Vietnamese pharmaceutical companies want to foster relations with Canadian counterparts, a Vietnam-Canada business conference in Toronto heard this week. Tran Van Truong, chairman of Vinacare Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, said Vietnamese people want to spend more on medicines and other pharmaceutical products.

In January-July, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Canada reached US$7 billion, and the two governments are working to reach the target of US$10 billion by the end of the year. Canadian investors have 253 projects in Vietnam with total capital of $4.9 billion.

Quang Tri to invest $238.7 million in new airport project

The People's Committee of Quang Tri Province has selected investors to implement Project Component 2 - Airport Construction under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with a total investment capital of more than VND5.8 trillion ($238.7 million).

Accordingly, the winning investor is a joint venture between T&T Traffic Infrastructure Investment and Development Limited Company and CIENCO4 Group Joint Stock Company.

Kien Giang to participate in 10th Cambodia Sea Festival

The Kien Giang Trade Investment and Tourism Promotion Center (KITRA) reported that the province will participate in the 10th Cambodia Sea Festival in Kep province from November 30 to December 4.

According to KITRA Director Quang Xuan Lua, Kien Giang will showcase its potential and strengths in tourism, promote OCOP and typical products, and strengthen cooperation with Kep Province in tourism development, connecting tours between two provinces through the coastal corridor.

Vietnam will develop world-class universities

Vietnam-Germany University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Vietnam Japan University will pilot new operating models in potential science and technology fields. This information was revealed on November 30 at a consultation meeting on the draft plan for the network of higher education and teacher training institutions for the period 2021-2030 and the vision to 2050 by the Ministry of Education and Training.

These universities are expected to attract a large number of international professors, students, and researchers to teach and conduct research in Vietnam.

Danang plans to build a central square

The central square of Danang City will be built along the Han River in Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District, with a total investment of over VND1 trillion ($41 million) and an area of 16.2 hectares.

The announcement was made on November 30 at the launch of the architectural design competition for squares and museums in the city. The competition has a total prize value of VND950 million ($39 thousand) and the deadline for registration is December 12.
