Nearly $5bn port project aims to boost Vietnam's role in global trade

Ho Chi Minh City is proposing to extend the disbursement period for the $4.8 billion Can Gio Transshipment Port project from 5 to 10 years to ensure financial feasibility. Spread over 22 years, the port is expected to enhance Vietnam's role in global trade by connecting major shipping routes and easing congestion at existing ports. The city is seeking approval to spend at least $2 billion over 10 years.

Northwest Vietnam to benefit from US$130m Hoang Lien Tunnel

The Hoang Lien Tunnel project will connect the mountainous provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau in northwest Vietnam. It will stretch for 8.8 km, with a total investment of VND3.3 trillion ($130 million), and is expected to be completed by 2027. The tunnel will reduce travel time through the Hoang Lien Pass from 52 to 11 minutes, improving transport infrastructure, stimulating economic growth and strengthening regional security.

Vietnamese luxury tour operator receives sustainability certification

Lux Travel DMC, a leading luxury travel company in Vietnam, has been awarded the prestigious Travelife Certified 2025 for sustainable tourism. It is the first Vietnamese luxury travel company and one of the top 500 in the world to receive this certification. The award will be presented at ITB Berlin 2025 and reaffirms Lux Travel DMC's commitment to responsible tourism, ethical business practices and environmental sustainability.

Kien Giang's tourism revenue reaches $356 million in early 2025

Tourism in the southwestern province of Kien Giang earned US$356 million in January-February, driven by over 2.2 million visitors, up 14.3% year-on-year, including 325,000 international arrivals, up 51.2%. Growth in the province which is home to the largest island of Phu Quoc – one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Vietnam was spurred by expanded airport capacity and improved port infrastructure.

Binh Duong targets 110,000 enterprises by 2030

Binh Duong – one of Vietnam’s biggest industrial hubs – aims to have at least 110,000 businesses by 2030. The province will increase transparency, streamline regulations, and support women-owned businesses. In 2024, Binh Duong ranked second among Vietnam’s localities attracting $42.3 billion foreign direct investment (FDI), accounting for 8.6% of the country’s total, reinforcing its status as an industrial hub.

AI-generated music video honors Vietnam’s medical professionals

The MV Ao Trang Sau Dem Trang (White Blouse after a Sleepless Night) was released on February 27 to honor medical professionals and celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955-2025). It is Vietnam's first AI-generated film, showcasing the sacrifices of doctors with AI-powered visuals and music. The project sets the stage for a feature film to be released on February 27, 2026.
