Vietnam chairs ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community strategy meeting
The 12th meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Working Group taking place in Hanoi on June 23-24 gathers delegates from 10 ASEAN countries, the ASEAN Secretariat, and Timor-Leste. The discussions focused on strategic communications, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and developing post-2025 results frameworks and key performance indicators (KPIs) that align with the ASEAN Vision 2045.
Vietnamese Culture and Tourism Week opens in Poland
The 3rd Vietnamese Cultural Festival opened in Warsaw’s Old Town Square on June 22 to start the Vietnam Culture and Tourism Week in Poland. Over 1,000 people enjoyed vibrant performances by the Vietnam National Music and Dance Theater and local Vietnamese artists. The festival featured photo exhibitions, handicrafts, cuisine, and tourism promotions, which fostered cultural exchange and enhanced Vietnam’s global image.

Vietnam’s seafood exporters gain US duty relief
The US Department of Commerce has announced final anti-dumping duties on frozen Vietnamese pangasius fillets under its 20th administrative review. Seven Vietnamese exporters, including Nam Viet and Hung Ca 6, were assigned a duty rate of 0%. Vinh Hoan remains excluded under a prior US-Vietnam trade agreement. From January to May, Vietnam’s pangasius exports to the US reached $142 million.
Malaysia removes anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese steel
Starting June 23, Malaysia lifted anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled and non-alloy steel from Vietnam, a positive step for Vietnam’s steel sector as it enhances export opportunities across Southeast Asia, promotes fair competition, and encourages regional economic integration.
Vietnam’s cassava exports hit US$601.8 million
Between January and May, Vietnam reaped $601.8 million from exporting nearly two million tons of cassava and related products, a 59.7% year-on-year increase in volume. China bought up to 95% of the total exports. Under a new sustainability plan, Vietnam aims to earn US$2 billion from cassava exports by 2030.
Nam Dinh launches US$3.85 billion green steel complex
The northern province of Nam Dinh on June 23 broke ground on the Xuan Thien Group’s Green Steel Complex that costs $3.85 billion. The project is designed to produce 9.5 million tons per year and adopts green hydrogen technology to reduce carbon emissions. The project is expected to create over 21,000 jobs and contribute $780 million to the state budget annually from 2028 to 2030.
