Samsung Vietnam supports Bac Ninh enterprises in developing smart factory

On June 26, Samsung Electronics Vietnam launched its "2024 Smart Factory Development Cooperation Program" for enterprises in the northern province of Bac Ninh. The program will run until August 9, 2024, and involves five local enterprises. According to the agreement signed with these companies at the event, the program's activities include selecting supporting companies, providing consulting services for smart factory development, and post-implementation management. Samsung experts will survey and assess the companies, then directly advise and work with them to improve their facilities and lay a foundation for process improvement, ultimately leading to the establishment of smart factories. From 2022 to date, the program has been in place at 12 companies in the northern province.
National Council for Sustainable Development established
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued Decision No. 560/QD-TTg on June 25 to establish the National Council for Sustainable Development. Headed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, this council will conduct research and make recommendations to the Prime Minister in building sustainable development policies nationwide, implementing global commitments on sustainable development in Vietnam, and evaluating the results of sustainable development implementation at the national level.
Vietnam repatriates remains of US servicemen in Danang
A ceremony was held on June 26 in the central coastal city of Danang to repatriate the remains of US soldiers missing in action (MIA). The activity was the 165th repatriation of US military remains. According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc, the repatriation of the remains of US servicemen missing in action after the war is one of the most important activities in Vietnam-US relations. Joint efforts in repatriating the remains of US soldiers are aimed at healing wounds and improving bilateral relations.
Forbes Vietnam announces the best-listed companies for 2023
Vietjet Air, Vincom Retail and Viettel Post are among the 18 new names on Forbes Vietnam's list of the top 50 listed companies for 2023. On the other hand, retailer Masan Group, The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World), Vinhomes, Vicostone, and port operator Gemadept have been dropped from the list. According to Forbes Vietnam, the top 50 listed companies in 2023 earned a total profit after tax of more than VND190 trillion (US$7.5 billion), down 13% from the previous year.
Hanoi adds eight industrial clusters to master plan
The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade has recently completed procedures to add eight industrial clusters to the city's industrial cluster master plan for 2020, with a vision for 2030. Hanoi has started infrastructure investment in four industrial clusters, bringing the total number of industrial clusters under construction to 24 out of 43 clusters established in 2018-2020.
Vietnam Airlines launches Hanoi - Chengdu flight
On June 25, Vietnam Airlines launched a route between Hanoi and the Chinese city of Chengdu, with a frequency of four flights per week. This route is an important part of Vietnam Airlines' strategy to expand its international flight network, making it easier for tourists to travel between Vietnam and China.
Hoi An in the top 10 most valuable holiday destinations in 2024
The ancient city of Hoi An has topped the UK's Post Office magazine's list of the 10 most valuable holiday destinations in 2024, thanks to its low costs, pristine and peaceful beaches and quality hotels. The rankings are based on criteria that could influence travelers' holiday decisions in 2024, such as exchange rates, food costs, and popular destinations.
Hanoi deals with over 150 stalled projects
Hanoi has revoked 153 slow-moving projects by reclaiming land, canceling land allocations, terminating operations, or withdrawing licenses. This information was recently reported by the Hanoi People's Committee to the city's People's Council as part of efforts to speed up the progress of non-state-funded projects.
As of June 15, solutions had been found for 705 of the 712 slow-moving projects, with instructions given to the relevant units to continue monitoring and pushing for acceleration of investment progress and land use. The remaining seven projects have received initial approvals but have not yet been allocated or leased land by the state.
