Vietnam's nine educational institutions listed in Best Global Universities Rankings

Vietnam's nine educational institutions have been listed in the Best Global Universities Rankings 2024-2025, recently released by the US News & World Report.
The local educational institutions that made the list this year are Duy Tan University, Ton Duc Thang University, Vietnam National University-Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi), Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-Ho Chi Minh City), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Hue University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and Can Tho University.

Vietnam-Japan digital transformation association makes debut 

The Vietnam-Japan Digital Transformation Association (VADX JAPAN) made its debut in Tokyo on July 7.

VADX JAPAN will strengthen innovation, technology transfer, research and development, and application of advanced digital technologies for its members. It is expected to become a platform to connect Vietnamese enterprises operating in the information technology sector in Japan.

Vietnam estimated to earn US$8 billion from rice exports in 2024

Vietnam is estimated to reap $8 billion from rice exports in 2024, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

In the first half of this year, rice exports increased by 10.4% on year. 

Six northern provinces promote tourism in Danang
Bac Kan Province held a conference in the central coastal city of Danang on July 8 to introduce the upcoming 15th tourism program entitled "Through the Heritage Lands of Viet Bac". The programme, which will run until August, will showcase tours, routes and tourism products in six Viet Bac (northeastern) provinces - Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang - and aim to establish cooperation with Danang's travel agencies.

Vietnam women's volleyball team finishes high at World Volleyball Challenger Cup
The Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team has achieved a historic milestone by ranking third at the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup closed on July 7, marking the first time they have finished in the top three at an official FIVB (the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball) tournament.

In particular, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen and Nguyen Khanh Dang were among the top performers. Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen was the top scorer, the best spike, and the player with the most points in a single match, while libero Nguyen Khanh Dang was the best defensive player.  

Ninh Thuan Culture and Tourism Day to kick off in July
Ninh Thuan Culture and Tourism Day is scheduled to run from July 13 to 15, in Son Tra District, the central city of Danang, to promote the cooperation between the two central localities and introduce local culture and specialties.
The event will include traditional singing and dancing performances, traditional musical instruments, and instruction on the Bau Truc art of pottery making. There will also be 50 booths showcasing One Commune One Product (OCOP) goods, typical rural industrial products, specialties and cuisines of Ninh Thuan.

The 2024 National Forum to discuss business in a multicultural environment
The 4th annual National Forum on "Doing Business in a Multicultural Environment" will be held in Hanoi in November to discuss ways to mitigate the drawbacks of a multicultural workplace.

Plan for preservation and restoration of Binh Son Tower in Vinh Phuc approved

On July 8, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long approved the plan for the preservation and restoration of Binh Son Tower in Tam Son Town, Song Lo District, northern Vinh Phuc Province. Under the plan, tours to Binh Son Tower and Vinh Khanh Pagoda will be organized, and the relics will be presented through virtual reality and 3D mapping technology, as well as research, architectural and artistic creations.

Ho Chi Minh City needs 161,000 workers in H2

Ho Chi Minh City will need about 161,500 job openings in the second half of this year, mainly in key industries and essential services, according to the city's Center for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information.

Specifically, there are some 134,600-141,600 jobs for educated and skilled workers, of which 19.5% require a university degree or higher, 23.2% demand a college degree, 21.7% require intermediate education and 23.3% request basic vocational education. 

Binh Dinh Essence of Sea and Land Festival 2024 to feature numerous activities 

The opening ceremony of the Binh Dinh Essence of Sea and Land Festival 2024 will be held in the southern city of Quy Nhon from July 11 to 15.

The festival will introduce ocean tuna cooking in conjunction with a food fair and an exhibition of OCOP products and handicrafts. It will also feature modern style street art performances, Binh Dinh martial arts, traditional art forms, and others.
