Vietnam launches direct shipping route to India
Chu Lai International Port in the central province of Quang Nam has launched a direct shipping route to India. Operating twice monthly, the route shortens transit time and cuts costs by bypassing major transshipment hubs. It is expected to strengthen trade ties between Vietnam and India and boost exports from central Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and northeastern Thailand.
Exhibition honors President Ho Chi Minh’s legacy
The national exhibition "President Ho Chi Minh: Essence of the Nation, Greatness of the Era" is open from May 16 to the end of June at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi to mark his 135th birthday, which falls on May 19. The exhibition features nearly 300 documents and photographs that honor President Ho Chi Minh’s life, legacy, and global influence while emphasizing his enduring role in Vietnamese national identity and international diplomacy.

Vietnam promotes cooperation in science and technology
The 2025 Vietnam Science and Technology Day opened on May 16 in Hanoi bringing together domestic and international experts to promote global cooperation in research, innovation, and digital transformation. The Ministry of Science and Technology announced new development directions and the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted) launched its action program to contribute to the implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science and national development.
Ho Chi Minh City hosts orchid festival
The Ho Chi Minh City Orchid Festival 2025 themed "The Multicolored Train" is currently underway at Tao Dan Park until May 20. The festival gathers over 39,000 orchid products from more than 200 cooperatives, gardens, and artisans. It honors orchid brands, promotes urban agriculture and tourism, and features a competition with 600 orchid entries.
Vietnam’s hospital performs advanced scar-free surgery
K Hospital in Vietnam successfully performed vaginal Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (vNOTES) for the first time to treat gynecological cancer, marking a significant advancement in the adoption of world medical technologies. This scar-free, minimally invasive technique, which originated in the US and Europe, shortens recovery time and enhances patient outcomes. It signals Vietnam’s growing integration into global oncology treatment standards.
VNG wins major AI award
VNG won the Silver Award for “Artificial Intelligence Company of the Year” at the 2025 Globee Awards, becoming the first Vietnamese and Southeast Asian company to receive this honor. The Globee Awards, based in San Francisco, recognize innovation and practical AI applications. VNG’s breakthroughs in AI infrastructure and its GPT-4-level KiLM language model demonstrate Vietnam’s growing global presence in AI.
