Vietnam to boost US farm imports
Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture Do Duc Duy, during his visit to the US from June 1 to 7, signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth over $2 billion to import US farm products, including five MoUs totaling $800 million for Iowa. The two countries also expanded public-private cooperation to boost agricultural trade and complement each other in tropical and temperate agricultural value chains.
Laos commends Vietnamese businesses for strengthening regional connectivity

EVN signs US$57 million contract to expand Tri An hydropower plant
Vietnam Electricity (EVN) signed a $57 million contract on June 3 to expand the Tri An Hydropower Plant in the southern province of Dong Nai. The project will add 200 MW to the national grid. It aims to increase electricity supply in southern Vietnam, reduce system costs and CO2 emissions, and extend the facility's lifespan.
Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports hit $28 billion in five months
Vietnam’s agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports reached US$28.04 billion in the first five months of 2025, up 15.1% year-on-year. Leading export categories included wood products ($7 billion, up 11,5%), coffee ($4.79 billion, up 65.1%), and seafood ($4.11 billion, up 15,1%). Asia remained the largest import market, accounting for 42% of exports, followed by the Americas (23%) and Europe (16.1%).
Hanoi’s CPI rises 3% in Jan-May
Hanoi’s CPI rose 3.03% in the first five months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, reflecting stable inflation. The city's economy was supported by tourism with 3.216 million visitors, a 25.1% increase, and higher domestic consumption. To stabilize prices and stimulate growth, the city is enhancing regional links and digital tools.
Hoi An among top cycling destinations in Asia

Danang welcomes first direct flight from Dubai
Danang on June 2 welcomed its first direct flight from Dubai, marking a significant step in accessing the Middle Eastern tourism and trade markets. The city is improving its infrastructure, services, and staff training to cater to the preferences of affluent travelers from the region. As of April 2025, Danang received over 13,000 visitors from Iran, Israel, and Turkey.
