German companies prioritize production diversification and manufacturing in Vietnam

The results of the AHK World Business Outlook Fall 2023 survey show that 42% of German businesses in Vietnam prioritize diversifying production and manufacturing, indicating a strategic focus on varied production capabilities. Sales and marketing (41%), services (35%), and logistics (31%) follow closely. The German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (AHK Vietnam) stressed that this reflects the confidence of German companies in the Vietnamese market and positions Vietnam as a promising destination for investment diversification in Asia.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the southern province of Soc Trang hosted a ceremony on November 22 to honor the national record for the largest artwork made of ST25 rice in Vietnam and the opening of the 5th Street Food Festival with the theme "Flavors of Soc Trang."

Vietnam participates in Going Global 2023 in the UK

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son led a Vietnamese higher education delegation to the Going Global 2023 conference in the UK on "Towards Sustainable, Scalable, and Equitable Partnerships in Tertiary Education" on November 20-22. During the trip, the Vietnamese delegation held meetings with government leaders and UK universities to promote bilateral cooperation.

Deputy Minister calls for nationwide improvement of Internet infrastructure

Internet infrastructure in Vietnam is still insufficient compared to the national population and market, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Pham Duc Long said on November 22 at Internet Day 2023 in Hanoi.

He said there is still room to improve facilities by expanding submarine Internet cables, increasing the number of data centers, and improving the Internet-based ecosystem. According to official data, nearly 80% of Vietnamese have regular access to the Internet, and 60% are weekly online shoppers, higher than the global average of 57.6%.

Vietnam produces $500 million worth of salangane each year

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam produces about 120 tons of products worth $500 million every year. Vietnam's salangane products, especially healthy food and beverages, are well-received in international markets, including China.

To promote the sustainable development of the sector, the Ministry has asked local authorities and agencies to regulate the production process and certify qualified products.

The photo exhibition "Colors of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups" was held on November 22 at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Son Tay District, Hanoi. This event, which will last until November 26, is part of the Week of Great Unity of Nationalities - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage 2023.

The exhibition aims to promote artistic works and help local residents and international friends understand the culture, life, and people of Vietnam's ethnic groups. 

Vietnam nears top 10 in global beauty ranking

Vietnam has moved up three places to 12th in the Global Beauties pageant ranking after Dang Thanh Ngan's second consecutive top-five finish at Miss Supranational 2023, the online magazine said on its fan page on November 23.

In the rankings, Poland holds the first position, followed by India, Thailand, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico.

Young entrepreneurs honored

A ceremony will be held on November 27 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Association (VYEA) and to recognize the contribution of their businesses to national socio-economic growth. In addition to the main event, a series of activities will be held, including several workshops and sports events.

According to VYEA President Nguyen Ngoc Luong, the association's member businesses generate US$40 billion in revenue every year, accounting for 10% of Vietnam's total GDP, and create five million jobs.

12 million accounts compromised in Vietnam by 2023

According to experts from Viettel Cyber Security at the CIO CSO Summit 2023 on November 22, Vietnam has witnessed 12 million compromised accounts and the trading of 48 million personal and organizational records since the beginning of the year. Vietnamese organizations need to seek solutions by hiring specialized information security providers instead of buying individual software solutions, the experts said.
