Lao leader pays tribute to President Ho Chi Minh

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife, and the high-level Lao delegation laid a wreath at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi on September 11 to pay tribute to the national leader of Vietnam. The wreath bears the words: "President Ho Chi Minh lives forever in our revolutionary cause."

Vietnam attends 2024 Seoul Defence Dialogue

Vietnam proposed the establishment of a global cybersecurity sharing system at the 13th Seoul Defense Dialogue, attended by Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defence. The event, held from September 10 to 12, brought together 900 delegates from 70 countries around the world to discuss global issues such as preventing war and conflict and maintaining international order and peace.

Southern province launches peak campaign against IUU fishing

Vietnam's southernmost province of Ca Mau will conduct a peak campaign against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing from September 11 to 30.

The province will digitize all records of fishing vessels with expired licences, expired registrations, lost connections, vessels sold but whose ownership has not yet been transferred, and those operating beyond their permitted limits. Measures will be taken on a case-by-case basis to promptly prevent violations and enforce strict penalties in accordance with the law.

Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba was recognized for the second time as one of the top 100 international geological heritage sites by the Global Geoparks Network (GGN). Known for its stunning karst landscapes and rich biodiversity, Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba's inclusion underscores its global importance in preserving geological and cultural values, contributing to sustainable development and global conservation efforts.

Vietnamese wood products showcased for the first time in the UK

About 15 Vietnamese companies displayed wooden furniture and outdoor art products for the first time at the Source Garden show in Birmingham, UK, from September 10 to 12. The products on exhibit were made of Vietnamese materials that meet international standards for sustainable development. The event was an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to promote their products and strengthen cooperation with many UK and European retailers. According to the Office for National Statistics, Vietnam was the UK's fifth largest supplier of wooden handicrafts by 2023.

Vietnam's first bookbinding art demonstration showcases craftsmanship

The first bookbinding art demonstration in Vietnam was held on September 11 on Ho Chi Minh City's Book Street. The event, entitled "The Art of Bookbinding: Knowledge and Elegance," featured a live bookbinding demonstration, an exhibition of meticulously crafted book covers, and highlighted the intricate process of creating personalized, handcrafted books.

The Vietnam International Medical Exhibition (Pharmedi Vietnam 2024), the country's largest healthcare industry event, opened in Ho Chi Minh City on September 11.

The four-day event, featuring nearly 1,000 booths from companies representing 25 nations, provides valuable opportunities for local and international companies and investors to exchange experiences and access vital information to support their operations.

National handball championship spotlights young talent

The 2024 National Handball Championship kicked off on September 11 in Danang, with teams from six provinces and cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Danang. Four men's and four women's teams are competing. The annual event aims to promote handball development nationwide and identify talent for the national team.
