Vietnam’s 2025 achievements highlight unity between Party vision and people’s will
Vietnam’s 2025 progress underscores political stability, economic growth and the strengthened bond with overseas Vietnamese communities worldwide.
THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam’s achievements in 2025 demonstrate the strength of unity between the Party’s vision and the people’s will, as well as the power of great national solidarity, Party General Secretary To Lam said on February 8.

According to the General Secretary, 2025 presented both major opportunities and serious challenges amid complex global and regional developments.
The entire Party, people and armed forces, including the contributions of 6.5 million overseas Vietnamese, stood united and helped the country overcome difficulties, achieving important results across all sectors.
He highlighted key achievements including political and social stability, sustained positive economic growth, firm national defense and security and effective diplomacy and international integration that strengthened Vietnam’s position, credibility and responsibility on the global stage.
The year 2025 also marked a decisive shift in Vietnam’s development thinking and action, reflected in institutional reform, streamlined governance, stronger state effectiveness and the restructuring of development space.
“Never before has our great national unity bloc, including people at home and overseas Vietnamese, reached such a high level of consensus and solidity as it has today,” Lam said at a meeting with outstanding overseas Vietnamese attending the 2026 Xuan Que Huong (Homeland Spring) program.
He said the participation of overseas Vietnamese representatives for the first time in the parade on April 30 at the Independence Palace and later at Ba Dinh Square on September 2 powerfully affirmed the truth that Vietnam is one nation and the Vietnamese people share the same roots.
“The Party and the State have always upheld the principle that the people are the foundation, the center, the subject, the goal, the driving force and the resource of development,” he said.
“In that spirit, overseas Vietnamese form an inseparable part of the nation and a particularly important resource of national unity in the new development era.”
According to the General Secretary, the Party and the State consistently protect the lawful rights and interests of overseas Vietnamese and continue to refine policies to help them stabilize their lives, integrate into host societies, preserve cultural identity and maintain close ties with the homeland.
During his working visits and meetings with overseas Vietnamese in many countries, he said he deeply felt their pride, resilience and strong sense of responsibility.
Overseas Vietnamese communities have increasingly integrated into host societies, strengthened their standing and credibility and consistently turned toward the homeland with a sincere desire to contribute to national development and defense.
Many constructive opinions from overseas Vietnamese have been heard and incorporated into policymaking, especially policies related to overseas communities, including recent amendments to the Nationality Law that better reflect their aspirations.
At the same time, many overseas intellectuals, scientists, experts and entrepreneurs have made significant contributions in science and technology, education and training, investment, trade and the promotion of Vietnam’s culture and national image.
Many teachers continue to preserve and pass on the Vietnamese language and culture to younger generations born abroad, helping maintain strong bonds with their roots. Overseas Vietnamese have also consistently supported people at home during natural disasters and times of hardship.
“The sense of national duty and compatriot affection runs very deep. The Party and the State sincerely value, recognize and highly appreciate the goodwill, commitment and responsibility of overseas Vietnamese toward the homeland,” the General Secretary stressed.
Welcoming outstanding overseas Vietnamese back for the Homeland Spring 2026 program, Lam sent his regards to all overseas Vietnamese, describing them as people living far from home but always turning toward the country with deep affection, strong national pride and a high sense of responsibility.
He wished overseas Vietnamese and their families good health, peace, happiness, prosperity and success in the new year and expressed hope that bonds between people at home and abroad would continue to deepen as they work together to build a more prosperous and happy Vietnam.
General Secretary To Lam called on overseas Vietnamese to respect the laws of host countries, strengthen community unity, preserve and promote Vietnamese culture, project a positive image of Vietnam and its people and serve as bridges to enhance friendship between Vietnam and other nations.

He also urged all Vietnamese at home and abroad to further uphold patriotism, self-reliance and resilience, strengthen national unity, safeguard political stability, promote socio-economic development and firmly protect national independence and sovereignty from an early stage and from afar.
The General Secretary noted that the 14th National Party Congress marked a major milestone, opening a new development phase focused on rapid and sustainable growth, including building an independent and self-reliant economy closely linked with deep international integration.
The Party and the State welcome and will continue to create favorable conditions for overseas experts, intellectuals, scientists and entrepreneurs to contribute more to national development, especially in key sectors of the new stage, he said.
“The Party and the State will continue to improve policies for overseas Vietnamese and strengthen international cooperation to protect their lawful interests, helping them feel secure to live, work and thrive in host countries,” he added.
