Vietnam’s wood exports to US hit $4.6 billion in H1, up 11.6%

Vietnam’s wood exports to the US hit $4.6 billion in H1/2025, driven by strong furniture demand and market recovery.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam recorded $4.6 billion in revenue from wood and wood product exports to the US in the first half of 2025, marking an 11.6% year-on-year increase, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The US became Vietnam’s largest export market, accounting for 55.6% of total industry shipments. Japan ranked second with 12.6%, followed by China with 10.4%.

Vietnam’s wood exports reached $8.21 billion during the six-month period, up 8.9% compared to the same period last year.

The ministry attributed growth in the US market to recovering consumer demand and the ability of Vietnamese firms to adapt to stricter import standards.

Wooden furniture dominated exports to the US, representing 85.7% of the total. Among key products, wooden-framed chairs generated nearly $1.2 billion, up 14.9%, while living room and bedroom sets brought in $793 million and $664 million, respectively.

Vietnam’s wood industry is one of its top five export earners, generating more than $14 billion annually. Around 60-65% of raw materials are sourced domestically, with the remainder imported from traceable suppliers.
