Vietnam sends over 85,000 workers abroad in Jan-Jul 

In 2024, the country recorded US$16 billion worth of remittances, with a large part of it coming from those working abroad.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam sent some 85,800 workers abroad in the first seven months of this year, down 4% on year, according to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

This figure meets 65.9% of the full-year target. Among the total working overseas between January and July, women accounted for 33%.

From January to July, the leading labor markets were Japan, receiving 39,558 workers, Taiwan (China) (32,471), and South Korea (7,340). Other notable destinations included mainland China, Singapore, Romania, and Hungary.

The ministry said that the results reflect proactive efforts by Vietnamese enterprises to expand international labor markets.

Overseas labor contributes significantly to Vietnam's economy. In 2024, the country recorded US$16 billion worth of remittances, with a large part of it coming from those working abroad.
