Vietnam sets plan to raise high-quality Vietnamese coffee

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has approved a national product development plan on high-quality Vietnamese coffee.

Accordingly, the average income of coffee growers is expected to increase by 5% in 2020 and seven per cent by 2023, compared to the average income in the 2013-2014 crop year.

The project will support at least 10 enterprises to complete the process of wet processing technology and sponsor at least five to ten enterprises to build high-quality coffee production models.

The scheme sets a specific objective to develop linkages for production, consumption, formulating large areas of materials for high-quality coffee production with drying systems, storage facilities, and suitable processing plants.

The productions of robusta coffee and arabica coffee are expected to reach 2.7 tons/ha and 2.0 tons/ha, respectively. With a total budget of VND170 billion, of which VND110 billion comes the State budget and VND60 billion comes from businesses, farmers, and credit loans.

The project is also aimed at building the high-quality Vietnamese coffee brand, ensuring that half of the leading enterprises in the coffee industry will attach the high-quality Vietnam coffee brand on their product packages. The project will be realized in the 2018-2023 period, with a vision to 2030.

** Along with the above-menitioned project, the First Vietnamese Coffee Day will be taken place in Da Lat city of Lam Dong province from December 9 -11, announce the provincial People’s Committee.
