He will then make an official visit to Peru at the invitation of President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra, where he will also attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2024 Leaders’ Week in Lima from November 12 to 16.

The Vietnamese delegation will take part in all major activities of the Leaders' Week, hold meetings with key partners within APEC, and engage with major corporations in the region. The APEC forum consists of 21 member economies, including global leaders such as the United States, China, and Japan. It represents about 38% of the world’s population, 61% of global GDP, and 47% of global trade.

Vietnam currently chairs the APEC Structural Reform Agenda for 2026-2030 and is leading the development of the APEC Economic Policy Report 2025. Vietnam will also host APEC in 2027.

Vietnam and Peru established diplomatic relations on November 14, 1994. Bilateral trade increased by 79.1%, from $353.78 million to $600 million between 2016 and 2022. Trade turnover in 2023 reached $486 million, with $289.6 million recorded in the first nine months of 2024.

Vietnam and Chile established a comprehensive partnership in May 2007. Trade turnover in 2023 reached $1.57 billion, and nearly $1.3 billion in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. Chile is currently Vietnam’s fourth-largest export market in Latin America after Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, while Vietnam is Chile’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.
