Vietnam to make first UAV export to south korea

CT Group to supply 5,000 heavy-duty UAVs to South Korea, showcasing Vietnam’s mastery of core aerospace and semiconductor technologies.

THE HANOI TIMES — Tech firm CT Group Vietnam on August 12 inked an agreement with Korean firm Airbility Inc. to export 5,000 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the Republic of Korea, marking Vietnam’s first-ever export order of this kind in the world.

The signing was made during the Vietnam–Korea Economic Forum in Seoul witnessed by South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok and senior leaders of both countries.

The event took place during General Secretary To Lam’s ongoing state visit to South Korea.

According to CT Group, its heavy-duty UAVs, with payloads ranging from 60kg to 300kg, have a localization rate of 85% and feature proprietary technology, including in-house semiconductor chip design, giving them a competitive edge.

UAVs are now among the world’s most important technologies, with applications in passenger and cargo transport, agriculture, healthcare, rescue, firefighting, security, tourism, and carbon credit monitoring.

Mastering core UAV technology and exporting to a high-end, demanding market like South Korea reflects Vietnam’s strategic position in the global tech industry.

CT Group also announced an order to export 100 million semiconductor chips to South Korea, underscoring Vietnam’s ambition to conquer advanced, high-tech industries.
