Zalopay provides cashless payment in Singapore

By expanding QR-based international payments, Singapore and Vietnam hope to encourage the trend of "cashless travel" among a new generation of Vietnamese tourists.

THE HANOI TIMES — Zalopay, a key member of Vietnam's technology champion VNG Corporation, on July 4 signed an agreement with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to launch its international QR payment service.

This partnership made the STB the first foreign agency to collaborate with a Vietnamese payment solutions company.

The feature allows Vietnamese tourists to scan QR codes and pay directly in Singapore without exchanging foreign currency or using international cards.

Exchange rates and transaction fees are displayed in the app, helping users manage their spending effectively throughout their trip.

Users can select "Singapore" in the "QR Scan" section to automatically show converted amounts and fees.

Many travel-friendly features are also being integrated, including travel bookings, payments, and local deals.

Besides payments, Zalopay is partnering with Singaporean businesses to offer Vietnamese users exclusive local deals and perks.

This is expected to increase the number of Vietnamese travelers to Singapore and benefit the two countries' economic relations.
