Fifth metro plan approved, connecting central area with Hoa Lac satellite city

Hanoi advances major urban rail project with Metro Line 5, linking its central areas with Hoa Lac satellite city on a 40-kilometer route.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Hanoi People’s Committee this week approved a plan on the design of the Metro Line 5, which will link Hanoi's central wards with the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.

According to the plan, Hanoi's fifth metro line spans nearly 40 km, starting from the Van Cao – Hoang Hoa Tham Intersection and ending at Thach Binh Station in Hoa Lac Commune.

The line is designed with six stations built underground, three elevated terminals and 11 ground stations.

The fifth metro line will run along Thang Long Boulevard and be connected with other routes to form an integrated public transport network in Hanoi.

There are two depots, one located in the mixed area of Son Dong and Duong Hoa communes and covering 32 hectares. The other, spanning 10.4 hectares, will be built in Hoa Lac Commune.

The Hanoi People’s Committee assigned its Department of Planning and Architecture to review and certify the drawings, while the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board is tasked with publicizing the plan and boundary markers.

Relevant ward and commune authorities are responsible for managing land and boundaries in line with the approved plan.
