Fostering Hanoi - Lam Dong cooperation in various fields

The Secretaries of the Party Committees of Hanoi and Lam Dong co-chaired a conference to discuss the direction and plans to promote comprehensive cooperation between the two localities in the coming time.

The event saw the attendance of Chairwoman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc; Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dao Duc Toan; Deputy Secretary of the Lam Dong Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province Doan Van Viet, among others.
 
At the conference, the two sides evaluated the cooperation between the two localities in recent years. Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Van Suu said that, in 2004-2016 period, Hanoi has carried out a lot of cooperative activities, social security assistance, infrastructure construction in Lam Dong Province with the total amount of VND 261,286 billion. 
 
Two localities have supported their businesses to participate in trade promotion conferences, trade connection, such as help their enterprises, production establishments, handicraft villages to seek investment markets for handicraft products; signing for cooperation in consuming agricultural products, bringing many typical products of Lam Dong to Hanoi market.
 
Two localities have also cooperated to promote and attract tourists. Travel agencies in Lam Dong Province have been cooperating with 25 tour operators in Hanoi to bring tourists from Hanoi to Lam Dong and vice versa.
 
Hanoi also directly invested in building 18 works in Lam Ha District, Lam Dong Province (including seven schools, five cultural works, three medical works and three transport works), providing two health care facilities with total support of over VND119 billion. However, leaders of two localities agreed that the potential for bilateral cooperation between Hanoi and Lam Dong remains huge. In the 2017-2020 period, Hanoi and Lam Dong will strengthen further socio-economic development cooperation in the field of clean, high-tech farming products, and tourism connectivity.
 
According to Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province Doan Van Viet, the two localities enjoy abundant opportunities for tourism development and high-tech farming. Lam Dong has advantages in flower cultivation, coffee production, and vegetable and fruit farming. 
 
Lam Dong hopes that the agricultural products of the province continue to be consumed more in the Hanoi market, he added. He said that currently, there are six flights from Hanoi to Da Lat each day. This is a favorable condition for the two localities to strengthen connection, develop tourism and open more tours to meet the requirements of tourists.
 
Secretary of the Lam Dong Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Tien stressed that the province pledges to provide safe food for Hanoi. He also called for Ha Noi investors to build a wholesale market or high quality agricultural product supply center in Lam Dong.
 
Addressing the conference, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai expressed his pleasure to witness the practical developments in the bilateral ties, especially in investment promotion, tourism, and education. He said that, in the coming time, two localities need to strengthen information work, experience exchange in specific areas which the two sides have the potential and advantages.
 
Hanoi will develop new tourism products and advertise tourism potentials with the Central Highlands province, he added.He believes that the cooperation between the two provinces and cities will make new progress, contributing to the development of the two localities.
