Hanoi actively contributes to Vietnam-Laos special relations: Hanoi Party Chief

Hanoi will continue to strengthen practical and effective cooperation with Vientiane and Laotian localities in the coming time.

Hanoi, as well as Vietnam, will exert every effort alongside the Party, State, and people of Laos to preserve and continuously nurture the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, ensuring that it develops extensively, meaningfully, and effectively across various sectors.

“This commitment is made for the benefit of the citizens of each country, as well as for regional and global peace, cooperation, and development.”

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung stressed the view during a meeting with Laos Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone on March 11, with the former currently visiting the country from March 11-12.

At the meeting, Dung affirmed Vietnam's strong and comprehensive support for Laos' reform, protection, construction, and development efforts.

He expressed confidence that Laos would overcome all difficulties and challenges, continuing to achieve even greater new accomplishments. Dung was pleased to note the deepening and extensive development of the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos in various areas, contributing significantly to maintaining political stability, national defense and security, and socio-economic development in both countries.

The Hanoi Party Chief praised the recent results of the meeting between the Politburos of Vietnam and Laos in 2024 and the 46th session of the Inter-Governmental Committee. He emphasized active efforts to implement agreements, including coordinating and supporting Lao counterparts in building political guidelines and establishing an independent and self-reliant economy.

Dung highlighted the importance of continuously strengthening and developing the Vietnam-Laos relationship as a strategic task vital to the security and development of both nations.

He urged the relevant ministries and sectors of Laos to closely collaborate with their Vietnamese counterparts in studying and proposing suitable and effective mechanisms and policies to create breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation. Additionally, he stressed the importance of attracting Vietnamese businesses to invest in Laos and contributing to maintaining political stability, socio-economic development, and international integration in both countries.

Dung also underlined that the relentless consolidation and development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship are crucial strategic tasks for the security and development of both nations. Hanoi, along with Vietnam, is committed to wholeheartedly preserving and nurturing the deepening, practical, and effective development of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship for the benefit of each nation's people, regional peace, cooperation, and global development.

On this occasion, Dung shared significant information with Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone about the situation in Hanoi and the positive outcomes of the high-level delegation's talks between the two capitals held on the same day. He emphasized the continued coordination between Hanoi and Vientiane to effectively implement the agreements between the high-level leadership of both countries.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed joy in welcoming the delegation from Hanoi and appreciated the friendly sentiments extended by the leaders of Vietnam. He conveyed greetings and wishes for good health to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State. Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly valued the significance of the delegation's visit and working session, acknowledging the positive results of cooperation between the two capitals, especially the practical support provided by Hanoi to Vientiane.

The Laotian Prime Minister commended the development of Hanoi and shared his firsthand experience during a tour of the city. He expressed confidence that Hanoi and Vientiane would continue to effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement for the 2022-2025 period and explore new areas of practical cooperation for mutual benefit.

In addition, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone hoped that Hanoi would actively share its experiences in building the Party and political system, economic management, budgeting, and urban planning, among others, with Lao localities. He welcomed and trusted that the two capitals would set an example for local-level cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, contributing to fostering the special, profound, and comprehensive collaboration between the two nations.

Expressing gratitude for the sentiments and encouragement from Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Dung affirmed that Hanoi consistently prioritizes its special political relationship with Laos, especially with Vientiane and Laotian localities, particularly in the northern region. In the coming time, Hanoi will strengthen practical and effective cooperation with Vientiane and Laotian localities, sharing experiences on various fronts, as suggested by Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone.
