Hanoi always attaches importance to intensifying bilateral ties with Laos’ localities, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung affirmed during the visit to the Lao Embassy in Vietnam on the occasion of the 43th anniversary of Laos’ National Day.

At the meeting, Chung congratulated Ambassador Thongsavanh Phomvihane and sent good wishes to the Laos party, government and people for their major development achievements and great socio-economic benefits attained in the past 43 years.

Hanoi’s mayor affirmed that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos, nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and generations of leaders and people of the two countries, has become a great and valuable asset of both people.

Promoting the tradition of solidarity and special friendship, Hanoi always does its best to unceasingly build up the special friendship solidarity with Laos' counterparts, considers it an important part of the foreign affairs of the city.

For his part, Ambassador Thongsavanh Phomvihane stressed that Laos’ great achievements in the 43-year development is not only thanks to the self-help efforts, but also the great contribution of international friends, especially Vietnam and the capital city of Hanoi.

The two sides agreed that Hanoi and Laos Embassy in Vietnam will keep closely coordinating and promoting local cooperation, thereby contributing to consolidating and deepening solidarity, friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in the time ahead.
