Hanoi, Berlin districts enhance multifaceted cooperation
Hanoi’s authority always attaches importance to Germany’s environment and climate change mitigation projects in the city.
Hanoi and Germany's Berlin attach importance to enhancing cooperation between Hoan Kiem district and Lichtenberg district of the two respective capital cities, said Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

The Hanoi leader made the statement at the reception on October 31 for Michael Grunst, chairman of Lichtenberg district, who is leading a delegation to Hanoi to explore cooperation opportunities with the Vietnamese capital city.
Chairman Chung welcomes cooperation between Hoan Kiem and Lichtenberg districts, including projects on climate change in which Hanoi has high interest.
Emphasizing that Hanoi’s authority always attaches importance to Germany’s environment and climate change adaltation projects in the city, Chung affirmed his support and appreciation for the long-term cooperation between Vietnamese and German localities.
According to the chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the number of citizens of Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general residing and studying in Germany is quite big, compared to other European countries. Thus, he expects that Lichtenberg district’s authority will pay attention to the Vietnamese community there.
Chairman Chung also pledged that Hanoi will always create conditions for cooperation activities between the two countries’ localities, as well as welcome the German business community to invest in the capital.
For his part, Michael Grunst applauded Hanoi’s environment projects, including the plan to plant one million trees in the period of 2016-2020.
He stressed that apart from cooperation in combating climate change, the two sides should expand their collaboration in other fields such as tourism and trade.
Michael Grunst also informed about the extensive and practical cooperation between the districts of Lichtenberg and Hoan Kiem, that has been implemented on the basis of an agreement signed in 2015 between the two sides.
Besides, Grunst expressed his hope that Hanoi’s authority will support and facilitate the two localities’ multi-faceted collaboration in the time ahead.
