Hanoi enhances to manage protected areas to 2025, vision to 2030

According to Official Letter 4370/VP-KT, Office of Hanoi People’s Committee asks relevant agencies and sectors to implement decision on approving Project on enhancing capacity to manage protected area system to 2025, vision to 2030.



 
The Municipal People’s Committee received Decision 626/QD-TTg dated May 10, 21017 of Prime Minister on approving project on enhancing capacity to manage protected area system to 2025, vision to 2030. 

Accordingly, the project aims to complete policies on apparatus, develop human and finance resources to meet demand for management and sustainable development of natural resources in the protected areas; improve capacity of management, qualification and professional skills in the protected areas to 2025; training and provide certificates for 50% of total officers of protected areas as prescribed in the capacity framework of job placement, especially for female staffs; guarantee facilities, equipments and science, technology for managing protected areas, in particular apply equipments and modern technology in 50% of the protected areas in 2025 and 70% of them in 2030 to manage the database, patrol, supervise biodiversity and assess effectiveness of the protected areas.

Along with building policy on resource development for protected area management, the project aims to provide training, improve capacities of officers in protected areas, and enhance application of modern technology in management. Accordingly, it focuses on building database and online report process to support management of the protected areas, thus striving to build database and provide introduction on websites of the protected areas; applying modern technology in supervising natural resources and assessing management of the protected areas, such as training and applying Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool (SMART) in all protected areas to better manage data and supervise biodiversity; building a system to supervise natural resources and assess management of protected areas through remote sensing and SMART.

In response to the document, Hanoi People’s Committee assigns Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to implement the plan, sum up the situation, give proposal and report to Hanoi People’s Committee.
