Hanoi Metro profit triples in H1/2025, driven by financial income

The financial report for the first six months of 2025 shows that both revenue and profit of Hanoi Metro have risen sharply compared to the same period last year.

THE HANOI TIMES — Hanoi Metro’s post-tax profit in the first half of 2025 jumped threefold year-on-year to VND10 billion (US$381,400), driven by a sharp rise in financial income, the company’s latest financial statement shows.

According to the newly released half-year financial statement, Hanoi Metro’s revenue during this period increased by 1.5 times to more than VND393 billion ($15 million).

The strong gains in revenue and post-tax profit came from financial income, which increased by 2.6 times on-year to VND23.6 billion ($900,000) in H1/2025.

This came from interest on deposits and lending. As of June 30, 2025, the company had more than VND1.2 trillion ($45.7 million) in bank deposits.

The only regular cost group was administrative expenses, which soared three-quarters on-year to some VND13.2 billion ($503,400), with half allocated to management staff salaries.

In 2025, Hanoi Metro aims to achieve total revenue of VND878.4 billion ($33.5 million), up 40% year-on-year.

The company plans to record VND20.7 billion ($789,500) worth of post-tax profit.

Hanoi Metro currently operates two lines: Cat Linh – Ha Dong and Nhon – Hanoi Station. In January-May, the two lines served nearly eight million passengers, with the Cat Linh – Ha Dong line alone carrying 4.5 million.
