Hanoi's digital platform “A80 - Proud Vietnam” reaches large public support

The app is designed to connect Vietnamese citizens and international friends with key historical events and celebrations throughout the city’s commemorative journey.

THE HANOI TIMES — The "A80 - Proud of Vietnam" application has been largely well-received, becoming a popular digital companion for events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2).

According to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, tens of thousands of people have already used the app, which provides accurate and timely information about the series of commemorative events.

The app surpassed one million downloads on the Google Play Store and App Store with an impressive 4.9/5 rating.

Its electronic portal at https://a80.hanoi.gov.vn/ has published nearly 800 news articles, reaching some 560,000 views and 20,000 downloads as well as recording 70,000 chatbot interactions and over 50,000 map views.

Nguyen Van Dung, a teacher in Cau Giay Ward, told The Hanoi Times that the initiative is a smart companion.

"It integrates an AI chatbot for instant guidance, an interactive digital map showing venues and amenities, and social media connectivity to foster public engagement and national pride," he said.

Designed with vibrant red and yellow tones and the iconic image of President Ho Chi Minh delivering the 1945 Declaration of Independence, the app carries deep meaning, Dung added.

"The interface reflects both the festive spirit and cultural heritage," he said.

"The platform enhances the user experience during the celebrations, and stands as a cultural-tech symbol of a creative and modern capital."

"A80 - Proud of Vietnam" includes the website https://a80.hanoi.gov.vn and the mobile application of the same name, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

For many, the app is convenient as it saves them quite some time searching for information about the event.

"Beyond delivering official updates, the platform offers rich storytelling through dynamic visuals, behind-the-scenes preparations, emotional public moments, and live broadcast footage. It presents a comprehensive, immersive view of the celebrations," said Nguyen Phuong Ha, a 12th grader from the Lomonosov Education System in Tu Liem Ward.

“It works as a 24/7 virtual assistant. Users can chat with the bot to get event information, directions to venues, and even set personalized reminders. With events clearly categorized and media libraries quickly updated, the digital map also helps with real-time location searches,” she told The Hanoi Times.

Launched on August 8, the "A80-Proud of Vietnam" app is designed to convey a modern and vibrant tone while providing updates on the grand celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

The platform reflects both a festive atmosphere and the cultural identity of Thang Long-Hanoi, symbolizing warmth, pride, and national spirit. It connects people across the country and international friends to join, share, and celebrate the proud milestones in Vietnam's history.

The app also serves as "a festival social network", on which users can create and share celebratory cards, national flag avatars, and photos and videos from events.
