Hanoi strives to create the best living environment for its people

"Clean water will be provided upto the residents` homes with the criteria of meeting European standards, drinkable right from the tap," Chairman of Hanoi People`s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said at the meeting with voters of Hoan Kiem District on July 18, before the 2nd session of City Council XV.

At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said that Hanoi has implemented various programs and development plans in the next 5 years, in which the top priority is for environmental treatment, urban correction, water supply in order to create the best living environment for Hanoi's residents, at the mean time giving solutions for regional development and planning beyond the Red River's dyke.

On the issue of water supply, Hanoi has directed construction for water pipeline, as well as speeding up the surface water plant project of Red River and Da River, to ensure connection to the common system. At the same time, planning a closed system of water supply to the local sudden dehydration in somewhere, there will be another alternative source. Besides, the City also accelerate the application of advanced technologies, so that cleaning the water pipeline every 6 months.

Hanoi is renting 4 research institutes to determine the water samples around the city and implement the project. The management will apply the privatization model of the water supply line to reduce costs and ensure quality. "Clean water will be provided upto the residents' homes with the criteria of meeting European standards, drinkable right from the tap," Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said.

In terms of renovating old apartment, the City will have mechanisms and policies, under the direction to ensure the rights of people, facilitating site-clearance work, compelling investors to implement.

According to Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, the City is actively promoting the implementation for the above-mentioned projects and there are many domestic and foreign investors, experts to response, support and help the City to implement. In the next few years, creating the best living environment for the City's people is a top priority task.
