At the heart of these efforts are “zero-dong” booths and discounted Tet markets, where essential goods, food items and holiday necessities are sold at prices at least 10% below market levels.
The programs are part of the “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” 2025 campaign within the Vietnam Trade Union system, helping workers buy reliable domestic products at preferential prices.
At the city level, the “Trade Union Tet Market – Spring 2026” will feature around 50 booths and take place from January 31 to February 1 at a social housing complex in Hanoi’s Thien Loc Commune.
The event will distribute 2,400 gift packages, each worth VND300,000 (US$11.4), to union members and workers.
Another large-scale Tet market, with about 70 booths, will be held at the exhibition hall of the Vietnam–Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace from February 7 to February 8.
This event will provide 3,600 gift packages, each valued at VND300,000 ($11.4), for workers and union members.
In addition, the Hanoi Labor Federation will launch an online version of the “Trade Union Tet Market – Spring 2026,” issuing around 9,300 shopping vouchers to expand access for workers unable to attend in person.
Alongside these markets, the “Warm Tet – Grateful Spring to the Party” program will be organized simultaneously in 84 commune- and ward-level trade unions across the city.
Activities will include cultural performances, gift presentations, support for workers facing special hardships and festive events such as contests of wrapping Chung cakes, five-fruit tray displays and lucky draws.
To ensure effective implementation, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has negotiated with businesses to bring quality products directly to industrial zones, export-processing zones and workers’ residential areas.
Trade unions are also strengthening supervision and coordinating with authorities to strictly handle counterfeit goods, substandard products and smuggled items, safeguarding workers’ rights and consumer trust during the Tet season
