As many as 1,600 houses in central Vietnam and Central Highlands were required rebuilding and 35,000 others need repairs.

THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued an urgent official dispatch ordering faster and more coordinated action to complete the Quang Trung Campaign to rebuild and repair houses for disaster-hit residents by January 15, stressing that no delays will be accepted for any reason.

The prime minister said the goal is to finish reconstruction ahead of schedule, ensuring all affected families have safe housing to stabilize their lives before the 14th National Party Congress and resume production and business activities ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet holiday).

The document was sent to leaders of the central cities of Hue and Danang and the provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong, along with relevant ministries and agencies.

Chinh assigned Party secretaries and chairpersons of provincial People’s Committees full responsibility for both the progress of the Quang Trung Campaign and the quality of the completed houses.

He stressed that any difficulties beyond local authority must be reported immediately to the prime minister, no later than January 5, warning that no delays will be tolerated under any circumstances.

The ministers of National Defense and Public Security are tasked with proactively deploying the maximum possible resources to support localities in promptly completing the campaign on schedule.

Military hands over nearly 800 houses to disaster-hit residents

After just over one month, almost all 34,759 damaged houses have been repaired and nearly 800 houses have been handed over to affected residents, according to the Ministry of National Defense.

Forces have promptly developed plans, mobilized personnel, equipment and materials. Working in close coordination with local authorities, these teams were deployed to affected areas to rebuild and repair homes for residents.

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, has sent a letter of encouragement to officers, soldiers and militia members participating in the Quang Trung Campaign. He commended the strong sense of responsibility and tireless efforts demonstrated by forces throughout the campaign.

The campaign is named the Quang Trung to evoke the spirit of rapid and decisive action associated with Emperor Quang Trung, symbolizing the urgency and determination needed to repair and rebuild safe houses for disaster-affected communities.
