US to support Hanoi in developing smart cities

On January 5, Chairman of Hanoi People’s commitee, Nguyen Duc Chung received Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink, the new American ambassador to Vietnam.

At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung expressed his greetings to the new ambassador to Vietnam and wish him a successful tenure.

Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink thanked for the wish and said that the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee was one of the first authorities he had the pleasure of meeting with Mr. Trump during his visit to Vietnam. He was also appreciated to the warm welcome from Hanoi people. Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink affirmed that Vietnam is one of the important partners of the US and thanked Hanoi People's Committee for its support in promoting the cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Chairman Chung hopes that Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink will implement more activities to strengthen the relationship between Vietnam and the United States as well as enhance the cooperation with US states and cities.
In particular, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung is in high hope that Hanoi and the US Embassy will improve Vietnamese investment in the US market and vice versa, especially in e-government, smart city development, waste treatment system, water treatment, health system and start-up environment.
Mr. Daniel Kritenbrink said that the Chairman’s proposals are the same to his wishes.
The US Ambassador highly appreciated the cooperation between the Embassy and Hanoi regarding to the development objectives of the city, including smart city development. In particular, the new ambassador affirmed that US companies are eager to cooperate with Hanoi in promoting the development of smart cities and concerned areas. This has a positive impact on Hanoi people and relationship between the two countries, he emphasized.
