VietinBank seeks investors for long-delayed building project

VietinBank is seeking investors to finish its long-delayed $400 million headquarters project in Hanoi, which began in 2010.

The HANOI TIMES — VietinBank is now seeking investors to take over its VietinBank Headquarters Building project, which has been ongoing for almost 15 years.

On July 10, the bank announced in a statement that it is completing the necessary procedures to transfer the project, which is located on Lot TM1 in the Nam Thang Long Urban Area in Phu Thuong Ward in Hanoi.

The project was expected to house the bank’s main headquarters, known as the VietinBank Tower. Construction began in 2010 with a total investment of over VND10.3 trillion (US$400 million). Sitting on a 30,000-square-meter plot, the project is located near the approach road to Thang Long Bridge and adjacent to the entrance of the Ciputra Urban Area.

The original design featured two high-rise towers, including one with 68 stories for VietinBank’s headquarters and another with 48 stories, connected by a seven-story podium with conference rooms, a shopping mall, cafés, and restaurants.

The project was initially scheduled for completion in 2014. However, as of today, only the frame of the 48-story tower has been completed. The more prominent 68-story tower remains unfinished, with only the podium structure built.
