Vietnam-Cuba friendship book launched

Vietnam and Cuba established diplomatic relations in 1960 and have maintained fraternal ties ever since.

A book entitled "Cuba-Vietnam: Two Nations, One History" was released on October 3 and tells of the loyal friendship between the two countries.

The book release was one of several activities marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of leader Fidel Castro's visit to Vietnam and the southern liberated zone.

The book was written by Ruvislei González Saez, vice president of the Cuban-Vietnamese Friendship Association.

Translated and edited from the original Spanish version, it is published by the Commission for External Relations and the Commission for Communication and Education of the Central Committee of the Party and by the National Political Publishing House - Su That.

Publishing House Director and Editor-in-Chief Vu Trong Lam said the book chronicles the important milestones in the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, which have endured historical upheavals and expanded over more than six decades since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1960.

The chronology of events in the book sequentially lists the turning points in Vietnam-Cuba relations. It includes high-level delegation visits and exchanges, bilateral cooperation in various fields, and a large number of pictures," Lam said.

According to him, the work captures the enduring brotherhood between Vietnam and Cuba despite their geographical distance.

"The translation and publication of the book is a gift to both Cuban and Vietnamese generations who have sacrificed for years to develop, maintain and strengthen the special solidarity and friendship between the two nations," Lam said.

Vu Trung My, Vietnam's ambassador to Venezuela, said that as one of the book's translators and editors, he expects to make greater efforts to develop Vietnam-Cuba relations.

"We look forward to receiving feedback to improve the translation so that the book can be published again and again," he said.
