Transport ministry seeks feedback on airfare increase proposal

The Ministry of Transport is seeking feedback on a proposal to raise the price ceiling for domestic airfares by VND50,000 (US$2.1) - VND250,000 (US$10.7).

Under the proposal, the price ceiling for air tickets will increase from VND2.2 million ($94) to VND2.25 million ($95) for flight distances of 500-850 km. The minimum price for 850-1,000 km flights would be VND100,000 ($4.2) and up to VND250,000 ($10.7) for flights over 1,280 km. The new price ceilings include all costs for the passenger, except for taxes and airport fees. Vietnamese airlines favor the complete abolition of air ticket price ceilings.

First Vietnamese athlete to participate in Summer Olympics


Thirty-year-old cyclist Nguyen Thi That won the Asian Cycling Tournament in Thailand, becoming the first Vietnamese athlete to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She is also the first Vietnamese cyclist to compete in a Summer Olympic event.


A total of 90 cyclists from around the world will participate in the Summer Olympic Cycling Tournament. Two will represent the host nation, 80 will qualify based on their international rankings, and eight will get tickets based on their performances at world and continental championships in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

Vietnam's Industry 4.0 Summit to discuss green transition solutions 


The Vietnam Industry 4.0 Summit 2023 will be held on June 14 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, bringing together around 2,000 Vietnamese and international delegates. The summit will feature lectures and discussions to provide practical solutions for digital transformation, green transition, growth, and innovation.


Key events include a plenary session, four conference sessions, two workshops on banking and finance, and an international exhibition of Industry 4.0 products.

Three days to go for the Cashless Town Festival


Cashless Town, Vietnam's first festival dedicated to cashless transactions, will open on June 16 in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1 to promote non-cash transactions as part of Cashless Day 2023. Participants will make transactions using only their mobile phones and ATM cards during the three-day event. Various promotions, discounts, and prizes will also be offered at the event.


Vietnam Cashless Day 2023 will also feature several key events, including a conference on the cashless economy and a competition titled "Great Warrior of Cashless Payment".

Viettel, FPT and VNPT remain among the most reputable ICT companies

Viettel, FPT, and VNPT were named the top three most reputable information and communications technology (ICT) companies in Vietnam in 2023, according to Vietnam Report JSC's list of the top 10. FPT Software and FPT have also topped the list of reputable software and system integration service providers. The rankings were based on assessing financial capacity and reputation through the media coding method and surveys of research subjects and relevant stakeholders conducted from May to June 2023.

Hue Community Ao Dai Week 2023 to be held in July

The Hue Community Ao Dai Week 2023 will be held from July 6 to 12, with a variety of activities aimed at promoting the brands and unique cultural values of Hue Ao Dai (traditional long dress) and stimulating tourism development.

The event will kick off with a bicycle parade in Nghinh Luong Dinh, Hue City, on July 6. Other activities will include community events on "Ao dai and Space for Performance" and "Ao dai and Life", offering incense and flowers to Lord Nguyen Phuc Khoat, and a parade group from August 23 Street to Hue Citadel on July 7.
