Ba Ria-Vung Tau opens memorial for heroic martyr Vo Thi Sau

The Monument Park and Memorial House in honor of heroic martyr Vo Thi Sau was inaugurated on April 26 in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Covering an area of over 18,000 square meters and costing more than US$18.5 million, the project serves as a cultural landmark, preserves revolutionary traditions, and promotes local economic, tourism, and social development.

Vietnamese seafood exports secure top market share in Singapore

Vietnam exported around $21.2 million worth of seafood to Singapore in the first quarter and secured the highest market share for chilled and frozen fish fillets, reaching around $10.3 million, up 2.5% year-on-year.

HCMC screens films to celebrate 50th anniversary of reunification

An exhibition titled "Echoes of the Great Spring Victory of 1975 in Cinema" opened on April 26, kicking off a series of events running through May 8 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification (1975–2025).

The exhibition features approximately 300 archival photographs displayed along Nguyen Hue Walking Street in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC), offering a vivid glimpse into Vietnam’s historic victory through the lens of cinema. Complementing the exhibition, a curated selection of documentary and feature films is being screened at multiple venues across the city.

Vietnam wins six gold medals at Math Olympiad

Vietnamese students won six gold medals at the Second Turkmenistan Mathematics Olympiad, held in Ashgabat from April 21 to 26. The competition brought together participants from 15 countries, including China, Russia, Bulgaria, and Turkey, to nurture young mathematical talents, promoting international friendship and encouraging open-minded thinking among young people.

Noi Bai Airport expects record passenger spike during upcoming holiday

Noi Bai International Airport expects over 2,000 passengers per peak hour and about 108,000 passengers per day during the April 30-May 1 holiday period, a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The airport is piloting facial recognition check-in via Vietnam's national digital citizen identification (VNeID) app for domestic flights, helping to streamline security checks and improve the travel experience.

Ancient human remains discovered in Nghe An 

Nine ancient human remains, believed to be from coastal settlers in central Vietnam around 3,000 years ago, have been uncovered at the Quynh Van National Archaeological Site in the central province of Nghe An. The excavation revealed prehistoric burial sites and artifacts, including shells, bones, and stone tools, providing valuable insight into early human occupation in the Quynh Luu Bay area.

Xuan Lien Nature Reserve becomes Vietnam's 35th National Park

Xuan Lien Nature Reserve in the central province of Thanh Hoa has been upgraded to national park, the 35th national park in Vietnam. Covering over 25,000 hectares, it boasts a rich biodiversity with 1,228 plant species and 1,811 animal species. In particular, it is home to the rare Roosevelt's muntjac and two ancient trees over 1,500 years old. The park will focus on genetic research and the development of quality ecotourism.

Danang promotes safe beaches through international rescue competition

Danang will hold the International Sea Rescue Competition 2025 on April 29 at East Sea Park, with 15 teams from Vietnam and abroad. The event aims to strengthen rescue skills, honor lifeguards, and promote Danang's beaches as a safe, civilized, and attractive destination for summer 2025, drawing visitors from around the world.

Vietnamese scientist among Australia's top 10 young chemists

Vietnamese scientist Dr. Tran Tuan Sang of Griffith University has been named one of Australia's top 10 young chemists by the Australian Academy of Science. His research focuses on nano-material interactions for flexible sensors, high-performance electronics, and renewable energy, with over 20 international publications. He will later attend the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in Germany in June.
