Vietnam discusses future cultural, sports plans

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has developed the National Culture Development Program 2025-2035. It has also advanced the Cultural Heritage Law (amended) and issued regulations to protect intangible cultural heritage. 

The Ministry aims to enhance cultural values, streamline administrative procedures, and promote Vietnam globally through strategic international events.

Vietnam, China join forces to combat human trafficking

Criminal police from Vietnam and China gathered at a conference in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on July 11 to launch a campaign against human trafficking crimes.

  

They predicted that trafficking from Vietnam to China would remain complex and potentially more serious in the future and Vietnamese and Chinese law enforcement agencies should take drastic measures to combat the crime.

Vietnam, Laos step up anti-crime cooperation

The public security forces of Vietnam and Laos will step up cooperation in fighting crime, especially drugs, smuggling and cybercrime, the public security ministers of the two countries agreed in Vientiane on July 11.

Over the past time, the two nations have worked together to combat criminality, particularly drug trafficking and other transnational crimes, and to build a common border of peace and friendship.

Vietnam to block 3,170 scam websites by mid-2024

By June 2024, the Ministry of Information and Communications blocked over 3,170 scam websites out of 12,818 offending websites. The ministry used the National DNS Sinkhole System to strengthen cybersecurity, blocking 3,478 scam websites in 2023 and 2,620 in 2022.

Hanoi students bag gold medals at Japan expo

Students from the Ngo Si Lien Secondary School in Hanoi won gold medals at the recent Japan Design, Idea and Invention Expo 2024.

Nguyen Phuong Linh and Phan Le Duc Phat, both 8th graders, pocketed the gold prize for their "smart helmet" product, which helps improve the safety of motorcyclists. Meanwhile, Le Khanh Thuy and Phan Le Tue Minh, both 7th graders, received a gold award for their "Smart Dog Collar", which helps track the activities and safety of pets. Both products are protected by copyright.

Ho Chi Minh City celebrates  France's National Day

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations held a meeting on July 11 to celebrate the 234th anniversary of the National Day of France [July 14, 1790 - 2024].

Since the early 1990s, diplomatic relations between the two countries and bilateral friendship have grown in a comprehensive, practical and effective way in various fields. Relations between the two sides are also based on the presence of a large and dynamic French community living in Vietnam's southern metropolis.

Quang Binh hosts international food and music festival

The central province of Quang Binh will the International Food and Music Festival in Bao Ninh 1 Urban Area, Dong Hoi City from July 10 to 14 to feature about 90 booths, including 50 food stalls from various regions and 40 OCOP and tourism promotion booths. The festival also includes musical performances and a pyrotechnic show on July 12.

Ben Tre's tourism flourishes in early 2024

The Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre post an on-year increase of 18.2% increase in tourist arrivals to over 1.28 million in the first half. The province is focusing on developing the Ho Chi Minh City-Ben Tre tourism route and strengthening links with eastern Mekong Delta provinces. Ben Tre is famous for coconut products.
