Prime Minister urges UK firms to partner on six strategic breakthroughs
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 28 urged UK companies to partner with Vietnam on six breakthroughs. These include economic connectivity, green transition, educational, health, and cultural ties, building an international financial hub, and integrating Vietnamese firms into global value chains. Addressing these priorities aims to generate new momentum for bilateral relations.
Vietnam’s pangasius exports hit $829 million
Vietnam’s pangasius exports during January-May rose 11% on year to $829 million, according to Vietnam Customs. Growth was led by the US, Brazil, and CPTPP markets, such as Mexico and Canada, with shipments to the US up 35% in May.
Vietnam to host one of Starlink’s largest networks in region
SpaceX is finalizing procedures to establish a wholly foreign-owned firm in Vietnam to operate its Starlink satellite internet service pursuant to Decision No. 659/QD-TTg dated March 23, 2025. The first ground station will be built in Danang. Backed by a $1.5-billion investment, the five-year trial will allow for up to 600,000 subscribers. SpaceX is currently completing the necessary licensing steps.
Vietnam-Cuba biomedical tech center expected
Vietnam has proposed the creation of a Vietnam–Cuba Biomedical Technology Center and a biotech industrial park. This idea was brought up at the cooperation event in Lam Dong on June 28. Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Commission for Policy and Strategy, said that advanced biomedical technology is one of Vietnam’s 11 strategic technology groups.
“A Heart for Children” launched in Long An
The telecom giant Viettel and the Tam Long Viet Foundation held the “A Heart for Children” program in Long An from June 28 to 29 to offered free congenital heart screenings for children under 18 and provided funds for free surgery for those in need. Since 2008, the program has performed over 7,700 surgeries and conducted 179,000 screenings for Vietnamese children, with Viettel pledging around $200,000 in annual support.

Peugeot strengthens service with expert program
Peugeot Vietnam has launched the “Peugeot Expert Care 2025” program, which will run from June 26 to October 16 at eight dealerships nationwide to provide in-depth technical consultations, test drives of new models, expert maintenance advice, and exclusive promotions. Notably, customers can interact with top Peugeot specialists.
Heritage thrives through fish sauce celebration
The ongoing Traditional Phu Quoc Fish Sauce Festival celebrates over 200 years of heritage and honors the island’s iconic craft. Themed "Essence of the Pearl Island," the festival features 200 dishes using traditional fish sauce, as well as artisanal demonstrations, tastings, heritage tours, and business networking. The festival runs until June 29 on Phu Quoc Island.

Third “I Love Vietnam” Golf Tournament launched
The third annual "I Love Vietnam" golf tournament, hosted by Nguoi Lao Dong (Laborer) newspaper, opened in Ho Chi Minh City on June 28 with 152 golfers. Since its launch in 2023, the event has provided a platform for amateur and professional golfers to come together and raise funds for social programs such as the “Proud National Flag” and the “Nguoi Lao Dong Scholarship.”
