Vietnam ranks 79th in the world for green economy

According to the 2024 Global Green Economy Index report, Vietnam ranks 79th out of 160 countries. In Asia, it ranks 16th out of 50 countries. Between 2018 and 2020, Vietnam increased its forest coverage from nearly 39% to 42% of its total land area and attracted US$9 billion in green activities.

According to Erick Contreras, Co-Chair of EuroCham's Green Growth Sector Committee, Vietnam needs to remove barriers and clarify regulations to help businesses invest and implement renewable energy and  circular economy projects.

200,000 new cancer cases in 2024

Vietnam is expected to treat 200,000 new patients diagnosed with cancer in 2024, with 70% of cases expected to be fatal, according to the Vietnam National Cancer Hospital. The number of cancer patients has almost tripled since 2000.

Breast, liver and lung cancer are the most common cancers, with new incidents and death rates increasing every year.

First Binh Dinh land and sea festival scheduled for July

Binh Dinh Essence of Land and Sea Festival 2024 will be held for the first time in Quy Nhon, the capital of the central coastal province of Binh Dinh from July 11-15. Under the theme "Binh Dinh - Sea Desire", the event will feature a number of special events such as a workshop on developing exploitation, processing and trade promotion of ocean tuna, Binh Dinh tuna filleting performance, an expo showcasing delicious sea-originated dishes and OCOP (One Commune One Product) and craft products.

"Bonjour - Hello Vietnam" promotes Vietnamese culture and agriculture in Paris

The first "Bonjour - Hello Vietnam" program, held on June 25-26 in Paris, France, introduced Vietnamese culture and agriculture to a large number of French consumers. Organized by the Trade Office, the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France, and local Vietnamese associations and businesses, the event aimed to unite the Vietnamese community in the European country and present Vietnamese people, culture, and agricultural products.

By bringing together various Vietnamese organizations, the initiative sought to create a stronger, more cohesive presence for the Vietnamese diaspora in France, while also serving as a platform to introduce the country, its people and its products to a wider French consumer base.

Online dispute management platform launched

At the VIAC Symposium 2024 held in Hanoi on June 26-27, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) launched the VIAC eCase online case management platform, which will help domestic and foreign enterprises minimize the procedures and costs of dispute resolution while achieving the goal of mediation and ensuring the legitimate interests of the parties. This platform was developed with technical assistance from the US Agency for International Development.

17 million Vietnamese products sold on Amazon in one year

Vietnamese goods exported through Amazon have increased by 300% over the past five years. Last year alone, about 17 million products (in the past 12 months - until August 31, 2023) were sold on the platform, according to a cross-border e-commerce forum on June 27. The export value of Vietnamese businesses selling on this e-commerce platform has also increased by 50%.

Hanoi private house prices rise 32% in 1H 2024

Demand for land in Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Hoai Duc, Thach That, and Quoc Oai districts increased by 48-104%, resulting in land asking prices in these suburban areas increasing by 4-24% compared to the same period in 2023. By the end of June, the average land asking price  nationwide had increased by 24% compared to the  beginning of 2023.
