Government allocates $40 million to National Data Development Fund
The National Data Development Fund has $40 million in state funding to promote the use of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, blockchain technology, and the Internet of Things (IoT) for governance and socioeconomic development. The Ministry of Public Security will administer the fund to support rural digital transformation, scientific research, innovation, cybersecurity, and critical national data initiatives.
CSI 2025 seeks 100 sustainable businesses in Vietnam
Led by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the 2025 Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI 2025) aims to engage small and micro enterprises by streamlining the index from 145 criteria for larger firms to 87. This reduction will promote private sector growth, innovation, and digital transformation, as directed by the government. Free online applications are open until August 15.
Virtual assistant to support decentralization inquiries
Viettel AI has launched a virtual assistant to answer questions about the decentralization and delegation of authority within Vietnam’s two-tier local government system. Supporting 2,700 tasks, the system is available at all times on computers and mobile devices, providing continuous updates on new legal documents and local administrative procedures.
3rd Danang Asian Film Festival opens
The 3rd Danang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) opened on June 29 to feature the program "Half a Century of Vietnamese War Films" with 22 acclaimed titles. Running through July 5, the festival falls during Vietnam's celebrations of 50 years of reunification and 80 years of independence. DANAFF III honors humanistic and innovative works while promoting Danang as a creative, cultural, and tourism hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ninh Binh welcomes 7.2 million visitors in first half of 2025
Ninh Binh Province, home to the Trang An Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recorded 7.2 million tourist arrivals in the first half of 2025, up 19% from the same period last year, with tourism revenue reaching $300 million. For the second half of the year, the authorities plan to enhance security, hygiene, and service quality; conserve heritage; and develop human resources.
Vietnam and China selected as finalists for the Danang Fireworks Festival
Z121 Vina Pyrotech of Vietnam and Jiangxi Yanfeng of China will compete in the final round of the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) on July 12. The largest event yet, this year's competition features 10 teams and the theme “Embracing a New Era,” with a grand prize of $20,000. Each team will use nearly 7,000 fireworks shells to create a spectacular display on the scenic Han River.
