President leads delegation to APEC and official visits to Latin America


President Luong Cuong will lead a high-level Vietnamese delegation to the 31st APEC Leaders' Meeting and pay official visits to Chile and Peru. During the APEC Week themed "Empowerment, Inclusion, Growth" in Lima, Peru (November 12-16 ), he will participate in key forums and high-level dialogues focusing on inclusive growth, innovation, and sustainable development. 

Cuba seeks more Vietnamese investment

Cuba expressed its desire for increased investment from Vietnamese companies, particularly Thai Binh Company, during a meeting between President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Thai Binh Chairman Tran Thanh Tu in Havana on November 6. Active since 1998, Thai Binh accounts for nearly 50% of Vietnam's exports to Cuba and operates factories and projects in the energy and agriculture sectors, reinforcing Vietnam's role as Cuba's largest Asian investor.

Vietnam works to repatriate soldiers' remains from Cambodia

On November 6, the southern province of Tay Ninh signed a cooperation plan with five Cambodian provinces for the 2024-2025 dry season to locate and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese soldiers who fell in that country. This initiative aims to recover unmarked graves in Cambodian provinces and strengthen the historical solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Haiphong promotes Cat Ba heritage on CNN

Haiphong launched a promotional campaign on CNN on November 5 to present the values of Cat Ba as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A 30-second clip showcasing Cat Ba's natural beauty will be aired three times a day throughout Asia until December 2.


Viettel, Nokia launch 1.2 Tbps network to boost Vietnam's connectivity

A 1.2 Tbps optical transmission network, a collaboration between Viettel and Nokia, is being deployed in Vietnam to support 5G, data center connectivity, and international connections. Using Nokia's PSE-6 chipset, the network will increase capacity while reducing power consumption by 60%. Expected to be completed by 2025, it will connect Viettel's major data centers in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Danang.

Vietnam Day Abroad 2024 to celebrate culture in Brazil, Saudi Arabia

Vietnam Day Abroad 2024 will be held in Brazil (November 15-17) and Saudi Arabia (December 13-15) to mark diplomatic anniversaries with these countries. The event will showcase Vietnamese culture through traditional performances, handicrafts, and cuisine, promoting international friendship and cultural exchange in its 12th year.

Vietnam welcomes 14 million international visitors in Jan-Oct

Vietnam welcomed over 14.1 million international tourists from January to October 2024, a 41.3% increase from 2023, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism. In October alone, arrivals reached 1.42 million, led by South Korean, Chinese, and Taiwanese. Domestic tourism catered for around 100 million visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching around VND690 trillion (US$28 billion).
