Vietnam, France strengthen cooperation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals

A delegation from the Vietnam-France Friendship and Cooperation Association paid a working visit to France from October 6 to 10 to seek stronger cooperation between the two countries in trade, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. During the visit, representatives of Vietnam Vaccine JSC (VNVC) worked with France's Sanofi for further partnership in drug trade.  

 

Thailand-Vietnam Cultural Road Gate: New cultural landmark of friendship

The Thailand-Vietnam Cultural Street Gate was inaugurated on October 10 in Thailand's northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom as a new cultural landmark of the friendship between the two nations.

Measuring 11.8 meters wide and 11.4 meters high, the gate embodies the unique identities, shared history and strong relationship between Thailand and Vietnam.

 

Belgian Culture & Food Festival 2024 comes to Vietnam

The Belgian Culture & Food Festival 2024 (B. Fest 2024), the fourth of its kind, will take place from October 25 to 27 in the northern port city of Haiphong featuring 30 beers imported directly from Belgium and Belgian-style specialties.

Held since 2019 by DEEP C - the Belgium's biggest investment project in Vietnam, it's the annual event authorized by the Embassy of Belgium in Vietnam aiming to leave Belgian cuisine footprints in Vietnam and strengthen relationships with Haiphong people.   

More than 51 million people found jobs in nine months

In the first nine months of 2024, there were 51.5 million people employed, up 5% on year, according to the General Statistical Office (GSO). During the period, 52.5 million people aged 15 and over were in the labor force. 

 

Viglacera Eco-Smart IP attracts US$300 million investment

Since its launch in February by Vietnam's leading industrial park (IP) developer Viglacera, the Thuan Thanh Eco-Smart IP in the northern province of Bac Ninh has attracted around US$300 million in investment to date.

As the first green and smart IP in Bac Ninh, it features smart lighting systems powered by centralized solar panels, maximizing the use of renewable energy while minimizing dependence on fossil fuels.

 

Vietnam's first heart-liver transplant successful

VietDuc University Hospital on October 9 successfully performed Vietnam's first simultaneous heart-liver transplant. The organs came from a brain-dead donor. After an eight-hour operation, the patient's heart started beating again, and his heart and liver functions improved within 36 hours. The patient is now in recovery and stable.

Stamp set launched to commemorate Hanoi's past and future

A stamp set commemorating the 70th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day (1954-2024) was released on October 10. The set includes a stamp and a block featuring iconic images of Hanoi's heroic past and peaceful, dynamic future. The designs feature symbols such as the Khue Van Pavilion and the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, celebrating Hanoi's cultural and historical achievements.

Hue is using digital technology to enhance tourism, offering virtual reality experiences such as "Searching for the Lost Royal Palace" and digital identification of artifacts. Visitors can explore historical sites interactively, with QR codes and VR providing virtual tours of landmarks such as the Thai Hoa Palace. These innovations increase visitor engagement while preserving Hue’s cultural heritage.

Danang overachieves tourism target with 8.7 million visitors

Danang welcomed 8.7 million visitors from January to September, exceeding the annual target of 8.4 million and the pre-pandemic peak in 2019. Of these, about 3.17 million were international visitors, exceeding the 2024 target of 2.5 million. Tourism revenue reached over VND26 trillion (US$1.08 billion), reflecting strong growth, particularly from emerging markets such as India and Indonesia.
