Vietnam to host int’l elevator expo

The Vietnam Elevator Expo, the largest and only exhibition of its kind in the country, is slated to take place between December 5 and 7 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Featuring over 120 booths from local and international companies, this year's exhibition will showcase modern elevator solutions and innovative designs, serve as an architectural highlight for elevating living spaces, and aim to foster cooperation and create a strong business network.

Vietnam successfully rescues sick Filipino fisherman at night

Cruz Jesus, 53, suffered severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and a sudden rise in blood pressure while his SEA HERMES ship was en route from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to China. After first aid, he was transferred to the France-Vietnam Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for further treatment.

Vietnam's electricity retail price increases by 4.8%

On October 11, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) increased the average retail price by 4.8% to VND2,103 (8.5 US cents) per kWh, excluding value-added tax (VAT).

EVN said the move was in line with the Ministry of Industry and Trade's regulations on raising retail electricity prices. It clarified that the increase would have a minimal impact on 815,000 poor households.

Vietnam, UK strengthen audit cooperation

The State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) would like to strengthen cooperation with the National Audit Office of the United Kingdom (NAO), said Auditor General Ngo Van Tuan at his recent meeting with UK Comptroller and Auditor General Gareth Davis in London to open up new opportunities for cooperation between the SAV and its British partner, particularly in specialized auditing, the use of information technology in auditing, and human resources training.

Forum connects Vietnamese and Italian coffee industries

A forum on connecting the coffee industries of Vietnam and Italy was held this week as a key event during the ongoing Vietnam-Italy Coffee Day in Turin City.

The forum offered a valuable opportunity for both “coffee powerhouses” to explore the potential for establishing partnerships across the coffee supply chain, including production, processing, brand building, franchising, distribution, and equipment supply, among others.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on October 11 held a ceremony in Hue City in response to the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction [October 13].

The 2024 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, themed "Empowering the next generation for a resilient future," highlights the need for young people to have the awareness, skills, and knowledge to protect themselves from the dangers of natural disasters, and then to help others.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the Center has attracted international scientists to Vietnam, provided opportunities for young Vietnamese scientists to learn, expanded international cooperation in basic and applied research, and engaged with enterprises.

All Vietnamese students competing at Olympiads in 2024 win prizes

All Vietnamese students competing at Asian, Asia-Pacific, and global Olympiads this year won prizes, the Ministry of Education and Training has announced.

Vietnam has sent seven delegations with 38 students to Olympiads, including the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, the Asian Physics Olympiad, and international Olympiad competitions in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics. They bagged 12 golds, 15 silvers, 10 bronzes, and one certificate of merit.

Vietnamese national futsal team gears up for ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024

Vietnam's national futsal team, led by coach Diego Raul Giustozzi, has gathered in Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024.

The 20-man squad will train until October 25 before heading to Thailand for a training camp. The ASEAN Futsal Championship 2024 will be held in Thailand from November 2-10 with nine teams competing.

Thai Binh strengthens cooperation with Russian localities

A delegation from the northern province of Thai Binh met with officials in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and several Russian businesses this week to explore bilateral cooperation and investment opportunities. 

The officials pointed to potential collaborations in healthcare, digital transformation, urban development, urban management, and industry.
