Vietnam's top leader extends his warmest wishes to children

 

In a letter sent on September 13, Party General Secretary and President To Lam extended his warmest wishes to Vietnamese children, both at home and abroad, and foreign children residing in Vietnam, ahead of the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.

Lam wished that each Mid-Autumn Festival would bring greater joy and meaning to children. He extended his deepest condolences to the families affected by flood and recent typhoon Yagi-hit areas, and expressed his hope that everyone would find the courage to overcome their grief and loss.

Campaign launched to clean up Ha Long Bay

Vietnam's northeastern province of Quang Ninh will launch a three-day clean-up campaign for typhoon Yagi-battered Ha Long Bay. The typhoon impacted various aspects of social life, particularly the service and tourism sectors.

 The province's leader urged relevant departments and agencies to immediately implement the campaign, focusing on collecting waste, restoring infrastructure, and salvaging sunken boats.

Vietnamese scholar honored with Ramon Magsaysay Award

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, has been honoured with the Ramon Magsaysay Award, considered the “Nobel of Asia”.

Phuong is being recognized for her spirit of public service and the message of hope she continues to propagate among her people. Her work serves as a dire warning for the world to avoid war at all costs as its tragic repercussions can reach far into the future. The awarding ceremony will take place on November 16 in Manila. 

Trade opportunities between Vietnam and China expand through industry showcases 

Zhejiang Expo 2024, the 12th Zhejiang Export Fair, will take place from September 26-28 in Ho Chi Minh City. Featuring four main sectors—textiles, hardware, two-wheelers, and outdoor sports—the event will host over 300 businesses across 500 booths. It offers a key opportunity for Vietnam-China trade cooperation and will run alongside Vietnam Sport Show and Vietnam Cycle Expo.

Vietnam to promote lifelong learning through reading culture development 

 

Vietnam's 2024 Lifelong Learning Week will take place from October 1 to 7, with the theme "Developing a Reading Culture to Promote Lifelong Learning." Local governments are encouraged to organize creative, flexible activities, including book fairs, reading clubs, and community events, to raise awareness and foster a reading culture. The opening ceremony is scheduled for October 1.

Vietnam to raise traffic law awareness through a nationwide contest

The "Joining Hands for Traffic Safety" contest will run from September 16 to November 11, 2024, organized by the National Traffic Safety Committee. Open to all residents in Vietnam aged 14 and older, the contest aims to raise traffic law awareness. Weekly prizes include cash awards and certificates. Participants can enter via the Communist Party of Vietnam’s e-newspaper and related platforms.
