PM welcomes foreign businesses to expand investment in Vietnam

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted receptions for leaders of major foreign corporations on September 22 as part of his trip to the northern province of Bac Ninh.

The leader pledged Vietnam's willingness to facilitate foreign businesses' operations in the country. He encouraged them to become more involved in the development of cultural, health and education infrastructure and the transformation of the digital economy, especially in emerging sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and innovation.

 

Vietnamese overseas continue to raise funds for flood victims

Vietnamese embassies and communities in Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Japan and Tanzania have launched fundraising campaigns to raise money for people affected by typhoon Yagi back home.

As of September 21, the total amount of donations, both cash and in-kind, from the Vietnamese community in the above-mentioned five countries has reached over $260,000, which will be sent to relevant agencies in Vietnam for prompt delivery to the needy in the motherland.

Leaders and citizens pay tribute to legacy of national hero Tran Hung Dao

A commemorative ceremony to mark the 724th anniversary of the death of national hero Tran Hung Dao (1300-2024) was held at the Tran Hung Dao Temple in Binh Dinh on September 22. The event honored his legacy of leading Vietnam to victory against three Mongol invasions in the 13th century. Provincial leaders and citizens offered incense to commemorate his contributions to national defense and unity.

Ho Chi Minh City hosts Green Growth Product & Service Exhibition

The second Green Growth Product & Service Exhibition (GRECO 2024) has opened on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in Ho Chi Minh City and will run until September 25.

GRECO 2024 has been expanded with new exhibition areas on high technology, supporting industries and achievements of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 with technological equipment, electronic microchips and artificial intelligence applications. It facilitates business exchanges and builds a green production ecosystem based on science and technology.

 

First AEON Mall opens in central Vietnam

AEON Mall Vietnam Co. Ltd. officially opened its seventh shopping mall in Vietnam and the first in the Central Region - AEON Mall Hue - on September 21.

With a total investment of nearly US$170 million, AEON Mall Hue is a harmonious fusion of Japanese and Hue cultural values. It is expected to provide a new experience for customers and become one of the key projects to prepare the infrastructure conditions necessary for Thua Thien-Hue Province to become a first-class city in the future.

 

Hanoi school basketball at its peak

The third season of the High School Basketball Tournament (HSB 2024) for Hanoi's high schools begins on September 26. With 24 teams - three times more than last year - the event will run from September 28 to December 15, with a home-and-away format. The tournament offers a prize pool of VND80 million (US$3,300) and special rewards, including international competition opportunities and scholarships.

400 athletes compete in muay championship

As many as 400 athletes from 29 provinces will compete in the 2024 National Muay Championship, which kicked off on September 22 at Aeon Mall Binh Duong Canary. Competitors aged 15-40 will compete for 38 medals in both male and female categories. The event promotes skill development, athlete exchange and talent scouting for national teams.
