This marks the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Malaysia in a decade and follows the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2024.

The 46th ASEAN Summit, themed “Inclusive and Sustainable,” is the first major event under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. The summit features sessions among ASEAN leaders, as well as high-level meetings between ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council, and between ASEAN and China.

The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s commitment to ASEAN and regional integration on the 30th anniversary of its ASEAN membership. It aims to deepen Vietnam–Malaysia ties, promote cooperation, and support a strong, united, and central ASEAN in maintaining regional peace and stability.

Vietnam’s delegation conveys a message of proactivity and responsibility, seeking to contribute to ASEAN’s strategic goals and elevate the bloc’s global influence.

The prime minister will be accompanied by senior officials from key ministries, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh, Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung.
