Vietnam promises to be a logistics star: FIATA President
The Vietnamese logistics sector expands by 14-16% each year.
Vietnam is capable of becoming the regional and global logistics center, said Turgut Erkeskin, President of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA).

At a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today (July 9), Turgut highly valued Vietnam’s national logistic development plan for 2025-2045.
He also spoke highly of Vietnam’s efforts to carry out plans for digital transformation and green transition to fulfill its climate targets of net zero emissions in 2050.
In this regard, Vietnam needs to mobilize all resources to develop the logistics sector as logistics is an important part of every economy, but there are many challenges amidst global uncertainties.
On this occasion, Turgut hopes the Vietnamese Government and ministries will support and contribute to the success of the upcoming FIATA World Summit 2025 in Hanoi.
For his part, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh appreciated that FIATA has supported Vietnamese businesses to partake in the global market.
He also recognized the international association for its active participation in Vietnam, which promotes the logistics sector rapidly.
PM Chinh suggested that FIATA help Vietnam with the green transition, and developing logistic solutions for agriculture and industries.
“Vietnam hopes to receive ideas from the international association to expand the fleets, and concretize the national logistics development plan to explore the best of economic and transportation corridors,” he said.
In the future, Vietnam will form a special unit to direct the growth of logistics, PM Chinh said, adding that the country wants to deepen its global participation.
He recommended that FIATA support Vietnam to launch training programs and develop high-quality manpower for the logistics sector.
“The Vietnamese Government commits to accompanying local and foreign partners, and facilitating the best conditions for economic relations, trade, and services to bring about win-win benefits.”
According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vietnam’s logistics industry expands by 14-16% each year. The industry is one of the key factors that boosted the nation’s trade value to nearly US$700 billion in 2023.
In H1/2024, it was estimated that Vietnam exchanged goods and services worth a total of US$370 billion, up 16% on-year. The country posted a trade surplus of $11.6 billion.
