Vietnam’s cashew exports in H1 hit $2.34 billion

Besides the Chinese market, Vietnamese firms are expected to expand across Asia, and further into the US and European markets.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam reaped US$2.34 billion from cashew exports in the first half of 2025, up 19.8% on year, driven by higher export prices.

The average export price was US$6,812 per ton, which was 23.9% higher than in the same period in 2024.

China was Vietnam’s largest cashew importer in H1, with export value rising 45% to US$526 million. Accordingly, China accounted for 22% of Vietnam's total exported cashew volume, followed by the US with 21.6%, and the Netherlands with 8.4%.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the whole year's target for cashew exports is $4.5 billion, up 2.7% on year.

To increase exports, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has advised Vietnamese firms to maximize opportunities in China and other Asian markets while improving quality, competitiveness, and traceability to regain market share in the US and expand further in the EU.

In 2024, Vietnam shipped a record high volume of 730,000 tons of cashew nut, generating $4.37 billion, representing an increase of 20.2% in value compared to the previous year.
