Vietnam's prime minister visits Vasco da Gama Football Club

Founded in 1898 and named after the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, the club has since developed other sports, especially football.

THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the Vasco da Gama Football Club in Rio de Janeiro on July 5 during his visit to Brazil for the expanded BRICS summit and bilateral activities.

Chinh expressed his admiration for Vasco da Gama's many titles, including four Brazilian championships, the Copa Libertadores, the South American Club Championship, and the FIFA Club World Cup runner-up title.

"Vasco da Gama is home to many world-famous players. It's an indispensable part of not only the Rio de Janeiro community, but also the global fan community," said Chinh.

He suggested that Brazil and Vasco da Gama increase their cooperation with Vietnam in developing football through activities such as training players and improving their physical strength and skills. He also suggested continuing to "export" Brazilian players to Vietnam and vice versa.
