Vietnamese president leaves for visit to China

President Luong Cuong’s first official visit to China takes place during the Vietnam–China People-to-People Exchange Year and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam’s President Luong Cuong and a high-ranking delegation left Hanoi today [September 2] for China at the invitation of Chinese President and Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping.

During the September 2–4 visit, the Vietnamese leader will attend events marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and engage in a series of bilateral activities.

This marks President Luong Cuong’s first official visit to China in his capacity as Head of State. The trip takes place during the Vietnam–China People-to-People Exchange Year and on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1950–2025), demonstrating the growing bilateral ties.

By attending the international commemoration, President Luong Cuong also reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to peace, security and sustainable development in the world.

Accompanying the president are senior officials including Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education; Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son; Chairman of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai; Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Ha Thi Nga; and leaders from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
